think he posted this a while ago, but thought it was worth another try.


my mates calibra 2ltr 8v wont start.

weve changed the pump, filter and by passed the regulator.

still it wouldnt start.

he dropped the tank and blew all the lines and tank fittings out with an air line.
again no joy


he tried putting the pick up pipe from the pump into a jerry can and the car started.

so we thought it was a problem in the tank
he has bought a new tank and fitted it but it still didnt start.

but again he ran a hose from the pump to a jerry can and the car starts.

he has even tried using a cossie pump connected to the tank, but still wont start.


weve ran out of ideas now.
any thoughts?

sure the replacement tank is good?

i've had the exact same problem today on a s2 and theres something up with the swirl pot in the tank.

where is the fuel returning to ?

remove BOTH pipes and see what happens,, it still runs then,, well theres a issue with something inside or related to the tank thats not allowing the car to start

try using the cossie pump with the jerry can and the tank totally removed and see if it still starts

there may be a issue thats nothing to do woith the tank but a saftey valve ect in the tank stops it perhaps

what other parts are you not using when you bypass the tank as theres a oneway valve on one of the pipes near the tank i was told

cant be 100% the new tank is a gooden, but it wasnt someone randomely selling a tank, the car was being broken.



ginge, i aint been there when he has ran it with the jerry can. happy to say i was enjoying the sun in mexico.

i know he done it using garden hose, so i guess he just removed the hose from the tank to the pump and put the garden hose straight on the pump and to the jerry can.

i told him to try starting it after unplugging any cables going to the tank, but as far as i can see all there is is the fuel level sender cables on a multi plug. (just 2 cables i think)

i'll tell him to remove the tank and try to get the return going into another container, and try to start it then.

there is a 3rd line he mentioned that im guessing is some kind of vent or overflow.

all he is doing is from a feed straight from the battery too so it elimates the wiring to the pump.

it might be some sort of valve in the fuel venting system if there is one

tell him to give up and get working on his MAIN car before hes under the thumb

its not been that long has it

i been busy with work/decorating and going gym quite a bit infact i now go gym sunday, monday, tuesday and thursday so ive only got 3 days to do anything,,, and ive been using them to finish that fucking fireplace i fucked up when i ripped it out and looking at buying a kitchen ect

also im saving up to get a decent deposit for another property for my little one for when shes older and then she can enjoy her youth like i can rather than have to worry about saving for a flat and being morgaged up to the arse

basically in the last few weeks i seem to have changed my view on life,,, dont go out much as such and when i do its with my best mate and the old lot from kilburn so ive also not taken any drugs for a while


think im over the midlife crisis stage now

i know he'd love to be working on the orion, but dont think he can stand driving a ka any more.

i think he is arrangeing to have the car picked up but some vauxhall specialist and get it sorted.

ive been at the gym a bit recently too. must admit, you do feel better for it!

i bought a flat aswell. dunno if anyone told ya or not.
i was most upset when i didnt find a house that was falling down so i could have fun working on it.

ive actualy ended up buying a place that i dont need to touch

have you put the right feed/return lines on?
start from the front and work your way back using the jerry can to replicate the tank at the other end of the pipes

also, is there fuel being picked up from the tank itself? the pick up migth be blocked

he has checked the lines are the correct way round from the tank all the way to the front of the car.

the first tank he blew out using a compressor but still the car wouldnt start.

but now its the same problem with the second tank also.

would be strange if both tanks pick ps were blocked......wouldnt it???

aint actually got the place yet. its all going through at the moment.

its in chingford, just off the mount.
angis mum and dad helped out quite a lot, otherwise i dont thin we'd be buying it yet tbh.

thought you would have got a fair bit of cash saved anyway though cosidering you both work and you both get paied quite well

oh and this month with my new job i managed to say up 975 quid,,,,,, ill get my bonus next month too so i wanna be able to save up 1200 a month after bills ect

thats why i aint been about,,, i buy a sandwich from the sandwich girl for 1.40 a day,, coffee is free at work and just my normal bills of around 500ish a month and general spending in the gym ect

hell i even stopped selling drugs


well i still sell viagra though as its legal and i make more than i did with other stuff with less hassle

i towed kams orion to that place, ive got a new clutch in my van and it could be nearly worn out after trying to tow his calibra up that big hill in his road, never realised how steep that hill is and it dont help being from a standing start lol.

remember i dont pay a grand a month morgage though

but yeah i seem to be hitting bonus at the min,,, but then u DO have to hit a 1500 quid a day profit target after returns and costs,,,, so i do get paid THAT well compared to my boss


LOTS more stress in my job though and theres agood few heated moments with people in the office,,, when i started i was warned that everyone gets hot headed at times but remember that what ever happens when its done its DONE,, no holding grudges and when the presure is over sort it out

theres a GOOD bit of issues that happen in my office,,,, seriously too

good job im too busy to actually get to know people there yet and have car fights as i recon i would get in trouble
