Know what you mean, some silly sod's been listing his Impy blue Escos for the last three months at the same price without any joy.

What I cant understand about Ebay is why some people who use it all the time dont grasp the concept that many other people dont.

So this week some people will be looking at it, and next week a disjoint set of the overall set of ebay members will be looking at it, and likewise the week after.

So to get good exposure to as many of them as possible it makes sense to try a few times

Paul,

you cannot always get a bargain, especially as 99% of most people know how much the cosworth parts are worth.

just the ones who cannot be arsed breaking the car themselves is where you would get a cheap car.

keep looking.

unfortunately its just a relatively clean one without large amounts of trick bits like most - so dont think breaking would return a lot for me! autotrader then ebay for me i reckon!

Ebay is definately a double edged sword against you Paul.

Raising the price of cars for breaking
Lowering the price of spares from them.

Not a good market to be in, if you didnt have such a good reputation i would say you had no chance, I certainly wouldnt want to start up a cossie breakers these days!

Honest opinion, what would you value this at? Anywhere near the 'buy it now' of Ł1500?

Because that also lowers the value of the cars

The amount of cars that are being broke on e/bay isnt good for the cossie values as they now are seen as just a way to make a quick buck , rather than a quality fast old car that people want to own

Cheap parts for cheap old cars that people feel are only good for spares these days

Roll on jap breaking

Different people have different amounts of money to spend on different cars at different times.

Whether the cars have been on for weeks or not, doesnt mean its not worth it in my opinion. Some probably are over-priced as you get with any car, but maybe it just shows that the sellers are not interested in letting them go for peanuts? And rightly so, maybe the sellers realise they'll sell eventually for what they want for them.

Just take a look at some of the cars for sale on here and rsoc as examples. Some have been advertised for months and months and then all of a sudden, they sell for the asking price. Its all about when the right buyer comes along.

Im sure theres loads of people looking at the cars on ebay that really want the cars and would buy them if they got rid of their car first and/or got their finances sorted out in time. Its alot to do with timing.

fucking hate e-bay really, its killing so any businesses off.from pauls line to normal independent retail shops.soon people wont even get face to face at all. it will all be done by email and the like

i think saffs and thier parts are in a slump at the mo but they will change round soon enough when all the good stuff gets hard to get.escort and 3dr bits pull good money still and will end up like mk1 and 2 parts soon.

Some good points , and i agree .
I oftern tell people to hold out for the money they want as they have a good car and its worth the money ,,but,, Most of them on e/bay are total shit boxes and you can see that by the piccs , and they want the same money they see cars sell for in Rallye news etc ( top spec MINT condition cars )

The problem is now that a good cossie still brings quite good money but a shitter is now worth next to nothing as its only fit for breaking , and with the very low value of the parts now ( e/bay ) its not worth a lot , but some people think there car is a good example so want good example money when the actually have a worthless shitter

I go and look at a lot of cossies every week and can tell you that 75% are rotten beat up old smokers that the owners think are very good examples

I also feel that a good example cossie thats a reasonable price always sells quick and never gets on e/bay because it sells to somone who knows the car , or sees it on a website like this etc ,,e/bay i feel is always a last resort

This is one reason why lowering the value of parts , lowers the value of the cars ,,,but people will just say im bitter because its effecting me well it is ,,but i can move on and do somthing new ,,its you and your cars its effecting more ,,just look at how saffs etc have droped in value ,,you can hardly give them away now unless its a low miler or massive spec car
