Default Has anybody has any experience with Yokohama Parada's??

Got a track day booked for 7th July and after that my tyres are going to be RUINED! and all 4 will need replacing.....

For some reason i always try different makes to see what i think of them...I've tried

Toyo T1-R's + S's (Thought they were good)
Goodyear Eagle F1's (2 had bulges in the sidewall after a month so replaced them with something else)
Falken 512's (Not bad quite hard wearing)
Michelin Pilot (These were wicked)
Uniroyal rainsport (Were ok, compound was quite hard though)

Still feel like trying the yoko's and a set of 215/40/17's are £248 delivered which i think is reasonable..

So, any info would be good!

Smit,
Absolutely no use what-so-ever to you, as your car is too low and will wear them out in a very short time. The reason this is a problem with these tyres is that they are handed, so when you wear the inner edges out, you can't move them about on the wheels to get some more life out of them like you could a normal tyre (as in making the inner edge the outer edge to extend the life out of them).

No experience of the Pradas, Ive had Yoko A046's & Yoko C drives, A046 were spot on in the dry but lacking in the wet....C Drives were a good alround trye.

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's are however on another level, top TOP notch road tyre, wet or dry.

Smits is lower than a snake's belly - he more than anyone else on this board, needs a 6° rear beam .

smit, is there a layout of the track anywhere?

just read the term and conditions, but unclear?

is it £115 for the car, so could have 2 or 3 different drivers?

is a crash helmet required?

lastly whats it like there?

I'll draw you a map off multimap so give us 10 mins

£115 is for 2 drivers so split the cost And you can take passengers all day. No session just complete open pitlane all day! Also yes, you'll need a lid as the passenger will aswell...

The surface is quite rough in places as it's an old airfield It goes round all the sideroads and has cones/straw bails everywhere. It's quite a fast circult down the straight it's a good crack for the money

A048

Good tyres

Michelin Pilot sports are excellent. As are the Dunlop SSR Mike sells.

Andy, you tried the R888's yet. VERY good for the money! and I don't find them a problem in the rain really.... I just take another car

Fil - I've done you a plain map then where the circult is

The green mark is where you join the track and you go in a clockwise direction

it's not rough as in cut up it just ahs a few bumps here n there and can throw u off when cornering

A046's are non E marked tyres that come fitted to the car new, I believe the compound is similar to that of the A048s though

I've yet to try the 888's would be interesting to see how they compair with the D02G's.
I settled for the PS2's for road use and a set of Dunlop full Slicks (c/o Marco) for Trackdays, seems to work well

I've just fitted a set of 215/40/17's on my CTR. as said, very good in the dry and I've found them bearable so far in the wet. The sidewalls arent as stiff as i'd liked, but coming from potenza RE-040's, I guess I was spoilt but cool tread pattern though

We have them on our track Puma, seem to grip very well and wear very well too considering its use! Car has baby power though and no weight! I've heard bad reports of them for purely a track tyre but as a grippy all round tyre they're spot on imo especially as they're cheap.

On my Focus I run Yoko A048 and they're very nice on track, don't even bother on an airfield day though as you'll go through two without trying. I'll be trying Dunlop DZ02 next, hopefully they'll wear better. Mich PS2s are also a great alrounder but at a cost, they do last well though!
