Default my finished airbox

for all you cone filter/standard air box peeps what do you think of this

its basically my 9 inch diameter 14 inches long inside a new box i have made up and fitted
its 11"13" oval 18 inches deep 2 2.5 inch air feeds from the bottom of my bumper to the bottom of the box it has a massive 17"x2" inlet that is feed with forced air from the front grill all is enclosed in multi layers of heat proofing to sound deaden the intake noise and also reflect heat from the rad it works very well indeed

It blocks off almost four rows of the intercooler.

So I'll give that a "nearly right" .

no it doesn't its the angle of the pic the finished cover intake it tapered to the front of the grill thus splitting the air (anyway i think my cooler is big enough when its 120mm deep

all the sides are blocked off and around back of the head lights and underneath it has a a shroud around bottom of cooler just like yours

i show you a finished pic later
testing yesterday 24psi 7800 rpm for 15 mins i was seeing 22 degrees it was a warm day
i got no chatter now thow

I had to look to the side of the photo to see where it was, then I spotted it smack bang in the middle

from what i saw of it, i might suggest one small improvement - instead of the sharp edges of the inlet mouth, could you round them off with a bell mouth type of thing to aid the airflow into the plenum?

i also didn't quite understand the 2 hoses at the bottom. was that for additional air from the front bumper? is so, good idea try to use as big a diameter hose and as smooth as possible though. airflow doesn't like the ribbed hoses

another way of doing it, similar to yours and maybe something additional that you can incorporate, would be to have the top part of the plenum open with a seal to the bonnet and a NACA duct in the front of the bonnet to push air in there

not everyone has the space for something like you have - moving the engine back was genius

don't want to cut bonnet or i would just cut hole and had a big chimney out the side

i can not go any bigger on hose sizes due to no room left in there even rods had less intake at front so i think the pipes were used as there ducts in the bumper so i should use them
the finished cover intake is flared outwards tapered to around 80mm deep in the grill area
to be honest i dint have much hot bay temps due to my engine back and heat shielding the filter was over 14 inch away from the turbo another good reason for engine moved back but it was more to stop induction noise for track days n such
thanks for your inputs

Will you be making these up then Brom?

I'm using an airbox for my throttle bodies to stop induction noise on track days, but I can still see me having a problem

the good old days are gone black flags and noise limits the only way to do a track day on full boost is quite things down which i now have done
still get 3foot flames out the screemer pipe thow when the box is taken off

proper job

i like the way that you see things in motorsport and apply them to your car rather than following conventional road tuning that people have been doing to cossies for years

Look above the lip that covers the upper rows of the cooler.

The Red line above the R in PRO stops level with the opening of the airbox mouth....

See it yet??????????

I think you need to look at my solution Brom. It works at 950bhp & is neat & compact, will be polite & not comment what that looks like.
Wonder which one of us got payed as a designer.

Does your car actually have to make any noise restrictions except for Brunters?
