I started off aiming for a very strong bottom end and anything over 160 bhp @ wheels will do me fine !

What exhaust manifold are you using ?

When i had a very good pinto years ago i changed my 4-2-1 manifold for a Grp A version and picked up about 10bhp extra

Well worth doing

And that flywheel is

Final Power Run Update - Today 13/06/2007

I have now done apprx 400 miles running it in and today I had the car rolling roaded @ Hi-Tech in Cradley Heath West Mids

Engine was revved to 8000rpm

Produced 184 bhp @ 7095 rpm at the wheels

Engine sounded sweet and no nasty sounds at all

A smooth torque curve starting at 1750rpm maxing out at 145 llb/ft torque @ 5500 rpm holding till 6800rpm then dropping off

Drives spot on now and ready for some fun

It may not have silly BHP as per turbo power but am sure I will have just about enough to do at least 50 mph now

Was just about to say I had 160hp @ wheels pinto and it was mega but yours must be awesome

Cracking work though, looks fantastic, black is by far the best colour on a mk2

I get 4 more BHP using blue anodising

When I tried red I only got 2 BHP

Plus the blue colour matches the rest of the Black and Blue colour scheme

The problem that you have there on normal pump fuel is that you are running fairly high compression for the sort of shite at the pumps these days.

So in order to run much nitrous you are going to need to retard the timing a fair bit to avoid PCP's getting so high they lead to detonation.

Its a fairly specialist application so I dont want to wrongly guess at figures for you, but im sure with some ignition retard you can probably put 100bhp of gas in progressively without a problem.

I wouldnt recomend holding it flat out for long periods though as the extra ignition retard and the nitrous will increase your EGT's, so sustained use could easily see you melting something sadly!

Obviously though on race fuel you could probably put 200bhp+ into it and have no worries, especially given the bottom end strength you have!
