MK2 Focus 1.6TDCi Owners....
Check for cracks in your turbo pipe, the one that runs across the front of the engine. I had a turbo blow on me last week in a car i borrowed from work because the pipe had a 3 inch crack down it. After speaking to the fleet manager at head office i've found it is a common problem but this has been the first one that has blown, the others have been spotted on main dealer services and replaced under warranty. Out of the 60 or so 2004-2006 1.6 TDCi's we have, over 40 have had the pipe changed. I was lucky enough to borrow the one that hadnt been serviced in ages, due to the pillock that drove it before not bothering to book it in, when he had the car for 9 months.
Due to it missing it's last service by about 15,000, warranty claim is out of the window, total cost of just over £800 for a new turbo and related guff ... glad it ain't my car
1.8TDCi and 2.0TDCi aren't affected, pipe is different and none of the 20 or so we've got have had any problem. Check my 2.0 myself and all is well.
Might be an idea to check if anyone's got one. It's the metal pipe that runs across the front side of the engine, with a rubber pipe branching off it

May also affect the TDDi models too, though not entirely sure as i've only ever seen a couple, much less ever seen under the bonnet of one
