becouse they only have 3k cash to buy the car & the can pay a bit each month on bits, saves you getting a loan for another 3 k for a good 1 & getting into debt thats what i think anyway

I like doing the bits and pieces myself, its a gradual impruvement to the car and not a car that needs nothing. Personally i would get bored of a car i couldnt fuck about with.
Like when the block cracked on my 3 door a week after getting it, i seen it as a chance for a better engine and more power rather than a waste of money

id buy the cheaper car and upgrade things as time and cash permits. when you do things yourself you know for sure that it has really been done.

Its the joy of doing it ya self, I personally would go for a decent spec, where all the big money has been spent and your just left to do the finishing touches....ie one that already has T34,RS 500 cooler, greys, low comp pistons with valve cut outs,WRC gasket etc........oh hang on thats exactly what I done
Fuckin bargain at £4800 if you ask me,just had to put new shells and a crank in mind but that was my fault ,just needs front touched up and its fuckin flying for the summer, and needs Stu to work his magic and its sorted.......then maybe a T4 .......erm then maybe a ported head.......infact theyre never realy finished articles are they, fuckin bastard money pits

just baffles me when you can have a good spec'd car for reasonable money ... or the hassle of waiting for a set of ap 6 pots appearing second hand

just makes me think tho a good chip is a good chip .. a good t34 is a t34 ... a decent intercooler is still decent .. greens are still greens..
im just a bit baffled really why spend all that extra so it feels like you have done it seems very illogical to do it that way ... just think of all the extra labour and the cost of a setup

I think half the pleasure in owning a nice car etc is putting time into it doing modifications and stuff. I think buying a ready done car for a lot of people would be boring

oh and WHY people moan about the money they spend on cars etc is beyond me...whats i matter? Moneys for enjoying and if you enjoy buying bits for the car and bolting them on then you aint wasted a single penny

i think you always want what you cant quite afford - hence 3-4k on a saph. if you had 6k then it would almost be 3dr money and if i had money for a really clean 3dr then i'd start thinking about an escos!!
