Wow..250cc 2 stroke
..had a proper run out on my new NSR250SP MC28.....bare in mind its a 94 so not new..LOL.....aint been on a 2 stroke for a while and am used to my 916SP Duke...so always power..LOL
...so to the petrol station and carefully calculate litres of petrol to oil (premix)...then shake the mix and i bet that looks funny ....so riding as its tuned to around 60bhp weighs fuck all its lost any torque it might have had std..so now its nothing nothing a bit more then FUCK..i really cant beleive how quick it is...it was never a UK bike as it was too expensive..like 6k NEW for a 250cc ...its hard work though you have to really work it to keep it on song..if you want to overtake its down about 4 gears to find atleast 9000rpm..then change up at around 13000rpm ....raced a bike on a private road ...i was hitting max speed (130 mph) he was having a job keeping with me..when i slowed up he rode past in disbeleif thumbs up...guess what bike..only a fucking Duke 996 ........
The handling is the best i have ridden..my Duke is just nowhere near as flickable...youd need a 130+straight to pass an NSR250
No Cossie talk here...we all know a Rod could blitz everything.....well not round b-roads i reckon my little 250cc could whoop it
2 strokes rule
..and yes my first bike after i passed my test was a 6 month old Pepsi RG500.....

Phil, does the NSR not mix the oil/fuel automatically?
Always fancied an RGV250 myself. My bike instructor had an RG500 (this was in 1991) and I loved the exhaust arrangement and the smell. But not the fuel consumption
Enjoy yourself, Phil.

..yes it does from std mix it but for reliability they blank it off...i had an RD500LC that i bought with premix it fucked me off but upon asking Stan Stevens the 2 stroke guru he recommended running the racers premix to get a proper mix to all cylinders...he reckoned that what blows alot up.
BUT the biggest killer of a 2 stroke is DET..just like a YB ..when you derestrict an NSR the ECU is fooled to think you are in 3rd gear above 3rd gear lol..so you keep that ignition curve so only super unleaded can be used..its a complex 250...nothing like the RGV etc UK bikes.

Testing the future
i was reading in this months bike magazine about some of the 50cc 2 strokes used on the TT over the years. they were getting silly with 9 gears and then 19 gears

My mate had an SP, is yours the one with the dry clutch? he too used to wipe the floor with much more exotic bikes Complete scratchin tool with a set of sticky cut slicks
Another mate of mine fitted an RG500 engine in an RGV frame... that was just insane

i worked on 2 stroke engines for years (moto-x) but now most moto-x bikes are 4 stroke!
the catch is,,,, you can race a double capicity 4 stroke bike in a set class, ie; you can race a 250cc 4 stroke in the 125cc class
the 4 stroke mx bikes sound awesome though

i used to swaer by 2 strokes when i was younger but i must say i love 4 strokes now.
i do love the honda 250's looks though, one of the best looking bikes of all time! imo
the best compramise is a 400 as they are light and have good handling and flickability.
my old nc30's and zxr 400's used to do 140mph which is all you need really on the road.
i never met one bike that could keep up through twisty tight roads, 400's rule.
my fave at the mo:
