Pimp My Ride Uk
Just been watching it again. Has to be said, aside from the unbelievably irritating over-reactions that are clearly being orchestrated, you have to hand it to the guys doing the work. Always appear to provide quite a reasonable job.
I wonder how long in man hours each car gets.

I heard Westwood on Radio 1 saying each build costs around £40k per car! So I'd guess they really do get as much work put in as they look.
While most aren't to my tastes, I really can appreciate the work that does go into some of the cars.
Wonder what they would do with a Cossie? Specifically mine!

I have to say it all looks a bit 'hotch potch' to me -m if you're taking as much time as they purport to (and I'm not saying they only spend 5 minutes either) but why not take the dsoors and tailgate off before you paint instead of just doing them matt black ?
Always look for that on the show, both US and UK and they do that ? why ?

I know exactly how long they get because we helped out with the Anglia they did.
They get 3 and a half weeks...
And they dont get to see the car before hand, they get a researchers report and a couple of photos and thats it.
The work starts when Westwood rolls through them shutters.
I was speaking to the lads who were painting the Anglia and they would have liked 6 weeks to do it 'properly' that doesnt mean they dont do a really good job because they are shit hot but they always feel rushed.
But then how many 'average' bodyshops would spend 3 weeks prepping and painting a car ?

Doors , boot & bonnet all came off the Anglia.. I know 'cos I supplied them a pair of mint doors and a rust free bonnet.
The boys at Carisma work their nuts off, I dropped parts in their one night at 8:30pm and Jamie was still there doing the interior when I left at 10:30...

im good mates with jamie and tbh the time they get is very little, neilm is right on the 3weeks bit.but they have to stick to it or they get hammered for production costs and camera man bills and all sorts
the stuff they do for the show is rushed and not to my taste but his stuff he does for normal customers is second to none.and he puts in so many hours its untrue.he is frequently there till gone 2 in the morning then back at 8-9

I can't belive people are saying that Capri looked good..... it was fucking daft looking!
A shoehorned on Escort Cossie kit (that is a million miles away from the style of a Capri), an interior by Liberace and some dodgy bling FWD offset 17's does not make a cool Capri
Pimped Capri......
Liberace........

the onlyu hting i would say to they guys who actually "design" them cars is why do they make them look so shit?
kits and paint and all sorts of bling are supposed to make cars look better, so why do they always polish turds?
is it feesable they could get something that is more common than a capri or an anglia or a bettle or a london taxi?

They don't even get their name in the program. Just called 'The Garage'. How wank does that sound

The one that really got to me was the Panda they painted green. There were 4 lads who claimed they wanted it to go travelling in (skateboarding or something?) so Carisma (or MTV or whoever) ripped out the seats and put in 3 bucket seats... Hmmm
To the people that know Jamie etc do they do anything to the engines? They pile in tons of cr*p into the boots or back seat areas of the cars, adding a fair bit to the weight of the car.. so are they all show and no go?

Interesting point about the engine and transmission - I have often wondered that. Presumably they have to restore it back to reasonable condition.......

I ran round like a numpty for 3 weeks while they built the Anglia and for what, a tiny mention in the credits that if you blink you miss it.
All I asked for was 4 Pimp My Ride T shirts and 2 Westwood Autographs for my lovely step daughters...
Did MTV cough up? Did they fook....
And after I supplied loads and loads of hard to get stuff for the car at cost price, delivered it all for free, all I got credited with on their website was supplying them with was a steering wheel......
I got nothing out of it at all and would never do anything to help them cocks again.

tim westwood is actually a normal well spoken bloke.he just creams cash off of acting a dick.good luck to him i say,im by no means in the cash postion he is so if he can make it by being a plank good luck to him.
as for the engines etc,no they dont do anything on them.i presume it has to be a runner before they get it,but looking like a shitbox so they can turn it into a shiney shit box
carismas involvement is like westcoast customs, they dont need the job but because they are the best in the country they end up doing it.if you ask me gimp my ride makes them look worse as the jobs are rushed and shit compared to his normal very high standard.
and as for the name,it would annoy me not having my company name on the building at all let alone the show
