Default cosworth underbonnet vent covers good idea or not

Under the 4x4 bonnet on my sapphire it has those polished covers that go over the vents in the bonnet. Are these a good idea as ford inteded the vents to have a use and these covers must stop alot of hot air geeting out.My car is a 2wd by the way .thanks

They are desinged to allow air to pass throught the radiator and out of the bonnet vent. They are very useful.

They are usually chrome bits of metal designed to stop water dripping on whatever happens to be underneath the vent, be it air filter/dizzy/whatever.

they are just another bit of underbonnet bling passed off as a useful mod!

I better just clear my post up.
The vent is a good thing, the bit of shiny metal is a shit thing that stops the vent working correctly.

Smashing through bonnet vents was a good way to get to the alarm without opening the bonnet and setting it off, so the plates will help that.

The plates are supposed to be mounted on spacers, as long as they are long enough it won't restrict the air.

Saying all that, I don't have any

Funnily enough thats how my 4x4 was targeted when it was a matter of weeks old. Luckilly the company that installed the alarm had the sense to fit everything to the bulk head area
