You dont want to go any thinner than 215 on an 8" rim.

I have 235/40 on the rear but a 35 would be better.

hi mate

my front are 215/40-17 f1's gd3's

rears are 235 40 -17 f1-gd3 you might have to trim the kit slighly to stop catching or use proper suspension

my track day RL7's are all et.25 gpa fitment 8"x17" and these use 235-610-17 slicks/wets allround they dont catch but i have had the rear arches rolled and the kit trimmed back a bit

it's "not" the width thats the problem on the front it's profile of the tyres they catch the front bumper and the metal bit that holds the bumper

a 235/610-17 slick is virutaly the same as a 245-35-17 road tyre

i have ,215 on my 8*17 et 30 they catch on the near side front ,dont know why just the front but thats the way it is ,Mark ,personaly i would steer clear of 8" on the front and get 7" or 7.5" as the 8`s are to wide and they tramline all over, mine are getting changed for that reason mainly .The diferance when i had 7`s on the front was unbelievable.

To late wheels are bought and ready to fit tyres and put on the car. Surely they cant be that much worse if the tyre size is the same ?????????

lol no i run 215 40 17 on the front and 235 40 17's on the rear

i was just waffling about the slicks thats all , and converted the race tyres to road size tyres as the slicks are measured in a differnt way

As righthooker says, you would actually be better with a 205 on the front but you shouldnt fit a 205 to a 8" rim.

I dont know i have never seen a 235 and just imagine it will make the sidewall flexable as the tyre is large, if you see what i mean, like the wheel moving about in the tyre cause the tyre is slightly to large for an 8" wheel

Or am i thinking there way bigger than they actually are lol

you are getting confused i think...

a 35 sidewall will be less flexable than a 40..

the reason that you want a 35 sidewall on a 235 is because the profile is a percentage of the width so it would match a 40 sidewall of a 215/05.

do a search for pics of my car and you will see that 235's on the rear do look THAT big.

i've got 215's stretched onto the fronts of mine, does look a bit silly, but its the only way it would clear on martins 500, may try 225's on the front as my arches have been heavily modded, have 245's on the rear, but again will be changing those to 265's

Hi mate

everyone has a different way of setting up a car on the front , i run more 10mm more castor than a saff and the adjustable tca, so the car can be set up

i dont know what the 8j's wheels are like on the standard settings

i have the car set up and run the 8J wheels on the front with no issuses at all

my mate is free lance to the motorsport teams and he set my car up

this means they have inserts for the bigger grpa studs, so you'll need a set of conversion nuts. i got mine this week from 'Cosworth Rallyesport' off here, there about Ł50 for 16.

EDIT: these are the ones....

hi euan

saffs have better clearance than a 3dr ,

the kit stops alot of it , alot of 3dr owners wont cut /trim the kit
