I always thought they external gate, massive exhaust housing (its specced for about 7litres, not TWO!), and not so high flowing compressor?

Or are there various versions? And what version are you meaning? And spec.

not got the turbo or spec to hand, but think it was off a mulsanne,

your right, they re externally wastegated, not really looked into it, but thought it maybe a cheaper alternative..

will look into the spec etc, when i get chance

Buying a T4 cheap usually means one of three things - it's fucked, it is the wrong spec for a 2 litre car, is a standard T4 and doesn't have the 360 deg bearing or enalrged wastegate penny (which will prevent you from limiting the boost above 7000rpm).

So you're advising on a turbo, that you actually haven't a clue about?!

Still ROFL at reccomending an external gate turbo with a 1.71 a/r exhaust housing suited to a 7litre engine as a replacment for a Cossie "T4"

Pretty certain Bentley T4s are "proper" T4s too, so have T4 flanged ex housings rather than T3s like cossie exhaust housings, so wont fit again, regardless of external wastegate.

Steve,
I think it actually stems from people "thinking" they're getting the thing they think they need for cheaper money, when actually what they're getting is something not fit for purpose . It's the ebay "bargain" mentality .

Apparently this is also a Bentley housing (notice the place for the EGT sendor) which I've just obtained for the back end of my strangely large T34 type turbo to replace the surgetastic (sorry Stavros nicked your phrase) 0.48 housing. It also means I'll be able to get the downpipe to finally seal hopefully with it being V-band!!!!

I never said it was!!!!

What compressors do they use then the twin turbos???

Would hate to think how much those housings cost from Bentley themselves though!!!

I know you didnt

What power are they? Im guessing it had a fairly small compressor, maybe T3 sorta thing.

Some american big capacity small power turbo cars often had fairly big (well, like yours) ex housings and lil T3 compressors.

Thanks rick and stavros for the comments.
Nice to see that anyone can be belittled on a public forum when something is taken out of context.

First off, i said i would need to check spec to be certain, and secondly that it maybe a cheaper alternative, but would need to check.

It arrived in a box, and has sat there since, hence i needed to check the details.

So, to recap, i did not say anywhere this is a direct replacement, nor did i say "try it, it ll be reet" etc...

Its quite obvious when seeing the spec that it isnt suitable for a cossie, even if it did fit.
However, this has been a lesson in finding out for definate before typing...doh

That is what you said, it was only after Steve pointed out that what u were suggesting is absolute manure, that you decided to check your facts, yet you'd already worked out how much to charge!

decided what to charge...

you know how much a new bentley turbo is, nevermind new bearing housing with 360 kit??

i assumed, it would be suffieceint with changes to the manifold, without looking into it..turns out exhaust housing is ludicrous..
for which, i appologise

though it is obvious that its useless for 2l application,
