Well, friends always tell me how expensive life is in Britain so I guess it might be even cheaper over here.

Most important things:

0.5 litres (~ pint) of beer in a pub: ~ 1.70 £
case (20 x 0.5 l) of (cheap) beer in the supermarket: ~ 5 £

petrol: 0.95 £ (95 octane)

i lived just to the north of frankfurt, friedberg, for 4 years

by the sounds of the job, it will be worthwhile.

the cost of living in germany is generally much lower than in UK. will you be going over on an expat contract, or local? who will pay your taxes?

generally, income tax is a much higher proportion of the net salary than in uk, but there are less other 'stealth' taxes to take into consideration.

as i say, i imagine that you will be far better off, but you need to know more details before we can say for sure. one thing that i will say, is that property in frankfurt itself is considerably more expensive than in the surrounding areas (mostly). the roads into the city are pretty congested at peak times compared to dorset , but nothing like london. the rail system is excellent around frankfurt though.

grocery shopping is similar to england, but eating/drinking out is cheaper

if you need any further advice, get in touch

Just do it - for the experience more than anything else.

I love Germany.

if you are paid in uk, you are laughing

if you are single, get yourself quite quickly to the eros centre's around kaiserstrasse that's another thing that is cheaper and better than in england
