Vulcan Bomber Last Airshow Video
Check out this Vulcan bomber video from Raf Woodford airshow, i saw it myself in the 80s, the noise is tremendous as youd expect - classic aircraft, theres one at Newark Air Museum that you can sit in for 50p, you wont believe how dark and cramped it is.

Awesome aircraft
I live about a mile from where the Vulcan & Lancaster bombers were built in Chadderton.
Its a shame the heritage & history means nothing to major companies like BAE as they also closed down BAE Chadderton a few years back , just as I was almost through the door .
Anyway, I just love the sound and presence of the Vulcan

I pass a Vulcan bomber (XL426) at Southend Airport more or less every day, its probably only about 200 feet or so from the road so you can see it really easily.
They have been trying to get funds for absolutely ages to get it repaired, I can still remember back when they used to fly it around - the noise was unbelievable!
I always remember seeing a Vulcan parked next to Concorde.... I was amazed at the size difference... The Concorde totally dwarfed the Vulcan.

I used to work on the one in storage at BAE's Woodford (XM603) site as part of a restoration team, problem was that with no no money to spend it wasnt so much a restoration as damage limitation.
They're awesome aircraft, I've been part of doing ground engine runs and at 30% throttle the noise was immense I'd love to hear one at full chat. I've never actually seen one in the air, hopefully if and when they manage to get XH558 flying again I'll definitely be attending and airshow to see it
As for being cramped, you're not wrong!!! for such a big plane there isnt a great deal of room on board !

awesome plane. my dad used to take me to a lot of airshows when i was younger, was lucky enough to see it display 4/5 times, the thing i remember more than anything is the noise, its a toss up between that and concorde for the most noisy plane ive ever heard.

I was at its last flight too! I remember it going what looked like almost vertical, putting the after burners on and shaking the ground..... never heard so many car alarms go off at once lol.
Hope it makes a return to the shows one day

Just shown my dad this Vid, he says I was there, like I can remember
At the end of the runway (poynton end) is a turning circle, just beyond that is abit of an unofficial path from the estate through the tree's that was common for dog walkers on normal days, My dad was on duty at the fence there and as perks go, I was his minder at the ripe old age of 12
He said the pilots gave us waves as they were turning around in the circle

my grandad used to have a LOT to do with XM655 and the MAPS lads at wellesbourne, sold up and moved on recently though, they're after a few hundered k's and they're hoping to have XM655 up in the air again by 2015, great feeling doing a fast taxi run from the electricians seat
