its one of those BT routers..
Adrian - I did the reset the way the manual seai, ie push the reset button in whilst the power is on.. but it says the power light should turn red.. it never did, just a load of lights flashed..
Even now, the light for the wireless is on, but my laptop doesnt find it.. just others also, even with the cable in, it says connected, yet the page says expired, or not connected?
any ideas.. please

IF its NTL/Telewest/Virgin connection, you HAVE to unplug power from the cable modem and back in again when swapping devices, ie straight to laptop/pc or wireless router.
what IP address are you getting when connected directly?
Start/Run
type 'cmd'
then type 'ipconfig'
If its a 169.x.x.x address, or 0.0.0.0, you arent connected to the internet.
Maybe try (in command prompt window again)
ipconfig /release
then
ipconfig /renew

Please try the following:
Click the Refresh button, or try again later.
If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.
To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
If your Network Administrator has enabled it, Microsoft Windows can examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings.
If you would like Windows to try and discover them,
click Detect Network Settings
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the Back button to try another link.

When you log into windows, you will either need to double click an icon and 'connect' or most probably you have auto-connect, (you might see a box come up saying dialling/authenticating etc etc)

How does your modem/router connect to your PC? I pressume by ethernet cable?
I wonder if, by doing the reset, it has somehow lost it's settings, and isn't dialing into your broadban connection....
The modem will want a username and password to use to find your ISP, then it dials your ISP and connects to the internet from there.
My ADSL at my mums was like that - router/modem was what actually recieved the internet, and the PC's connected to it (via ethernet) just took this internet straight away. When I opened IE I didn't have to dial in as such, or do any connecting...
Have you checked to make sure you network port is enabled? Should show two PC screens in the taks bar by the clock. If not, go to START > CONTROL PANEL > NETWORK CONNECTIONS and see if your 10/100 connection is turned on or off.....

right,
tried all the things that Stu has said, but no luck The IP addy wasnt 0.0.0.0. or the other that you said...
Thrush.. its a wireless router, but I had my PS3 plugged in by ethernet, so when the wireless went donw, I plugged the cable into laptop instead.. it worked fine.. then I put a pin on the reset and the buttons all flashed Now the lights all seem fine, wireless doesnt work, but when I put the cable in, it says connected, but the page doesnt display..
