According to the Gotech website there is only one official distributor and dealer in the UK and that is Jamsport which I guess means your choice of mappers is rather limited
Its the main thing that put me off GoTech

Surely ANY mapper can map this system as it aftermarket and will come
with suitable PC software.
If it cant whats the point of it, may as well just stick to standard management
and have it live mapped. !

When jamsport supplied your ECU did they give you a coppy of the mapping software on CD?
They should have as it is part of the package from Gotech.
If not go back and ask for it then any decent mapper will be able to do it after 15 mins familarisation.

I am sorry that you were unable to discuss the shortfalls of your engine with us at Jamsport.
But I feel that I should point out that after we mapped the car I explaned that your disaspointment in power was due to a mismatch of engine and turbo componants.
We optimised the fuel and ignition to your engine and offered some advice towards a better engine spec.
You are welcome to bring the car back one evening and we will have another look.
Regards,
Jamie.

So Jam-Sport will no doubt be asked to change it to Jamie or something.
Anyway, away from that and back to what he actually posted, sounds like a pretty reasonable and not very uncommon explanation.
I know LOTS of people who have put together a mismatch of parts in the past and then expected a tuner to work miracles around it that just isnt possible, Lee with the cav turbo for example!

thats not bad at all from a 1600. is it low comp?
if its detonating the engine set up (timing, temps etc) cant take the boost so doesn`t sound as if the turbo is giving up on ya.

WHAT!! bit higher!! surely not. to run over 15 psi on standard comp you should have water injection to help with detonating. that cant be right, do you know the comp ratio?

So if the turbo was struggling at the top end it could easily do exactly what is described.
Also if its spinning its tits off it could be introducing a lot of heat that could lead to det as well.
Conversely it could be the head is too restrictive and causing the same effect.
It could also be that the exhaust side of the turbo is increasing pumping losses on the engine.
Basically, it could be lots of things with those symptoms, including the thing you say it cant be!
