Default A3 Quattro's

how good are these?

i've seen a lovely quattro a3 130 tdi but the dealer is being a bit gay, so i've seen another one almost identical expect with nicer alloys, nicer seats and a better colour but it's not a quattro.

is it really worth me waiting for a quattro? or is it a case of it will go wrong one day and really will cost a bomb to fix?

also what do you think about buying privately, i wonldn't mind normally but since it's the thick end of 10k i think i'd rather go to a propper dealer, am i just being daft?

personaly in this country i see no real advantage off having the quattro, driven a few quattros and non quatros at work, and TBH i prefer the FWD cars, more weight with the Q, for no real benifit over here

Had an A3 quattro and it went through bushes like you wouldn't believe, 2 engine mounts and had AFM fault that cost plenty. Gearbox was slack as a whores pussy and the stereo was a waste of time, volume control had a mind of its own, but they're all like that apparently. For a 60k mile car it was a lot more hassle and not as well built as I thought it would be and it certainly wasn't fast for 180bhp. Would just go for the FWD version IMO.

I have the newer version- they changed on the 54 I think.

None of those problems are evident and I must say the build quality on the later vehicles is much better.

i have the FWD (150bhp) same colour as yours but with the s3 kit on, like you said seems to eat bushes but touch wood apart from that not had any trouble with it mines remapped to around 200bhp

yeah i must say i am thinking more towards the s4. other option is prehaps a s3, but i've driven a tt225 which is the same thing and wasn't impressed with that either tbh.

i know they'll both be loads better with a remap but if i'm spending that kinda money on a car i want it to be exactly what i want!
