Open forum on the above.

Considerations are that the car is a weekend toy and ring tool. Gotta be ludicrously fast, but not too expensive.

Any thoughts?

You've got a perfect replacement already haven't you?

Price wise, a 944 Turbo has to be a good option.

Some varied choices there! I will try to list and provide comment.....

1. Cosworth Engine in a Westfield -
Yes I can see the appeal, but you still have the same engine to go wrong all the time and cause major butt ache. And I am too big and heavy - wouldnt fit!!!! LOL

2. Noble M12 - I have been tempted, but they are loads of money, and apparently they would make a cosworth seem reliable. This combined with the total lack of dealers anywhere, and the fact that the rights have now been sold by Noble to an american company......

3. Skyline - Yes an R33 possibly, but they need money spending on them to make them go quickly enough to be considered a replacement. Maybefurther discussion.

4. Silvia - No

5. Scooby - Very accomplished car, but hard to tune beyond 350bhp I understand. Also rather common these days.

6. Clio - Id rather walk round the nurburgring! Small and French. I rest my case

[b]Plynchy[/b[You are refering to the M5? Yeah she is a great car, but by todays standards she is slow! Also most expensive to tune even a little bit!

7. 944 - Hmmmm Not thought of this. A little old perhaps, but a great car overall!

8. Mitsi Evo - Bloody good car, but I know little about tuning them. This is a possibility. I need to learn the range and their capabilities. I would generally go for an EVO over a Scoob, but that is my personal pref.

9. 1934 Duisenberg - Tabetha I think that you will find it is spelt Duesenberg and stop being silly - I wouldnt want a convertible ROFL

10. Pete - have you been talking to my wife! ROFL

EscosNige that used to come on here got rid of a Tuscan speed6 for a M12..

it hasnt missed a beat until now (exhaust has started to blow a little)
you hear Nothing but praise for the car from him, from what i gather its about as quick in a straight line as a CIRCA 400bhp 4x4 cos. so not shy at all!

Its also for sale a really really nice car... built from mondeo parts

Have to say for my money it would be an Evo but I prefer the looks of the older cars as they seem to have a bit more character about them.

Dare I say it as well but a BMW M3 would be high on the list. Can't stand the things but only an idiot would discount them as they are a fucking good car irrespective of your feelings on them.

As and when id ecide to call it quits playing with the cossie ill trade in for an E46 M3 in either steel grey or carbon black metallic.

ideally id like to just leave the cossie in the garage for track days and odd fun and never have to sell, so maybe in a year or so i may be able to buy an M3 when im not throwing so much at the cossie

I replaced my 350bhp 2wd saph with a integra type-r. Its great and tbh proves that you dont need 4 billion bhp to have fun in a car.

Can your current car beat 7mins 59seconds?

As thats what the R33GTR did when it held the production car lap record of the ring.

I wouldnt get one though, as i dont like Skylines, not becasue they not capable, as they obv are.

Personally if I wanted RWD id get a S14a 200SX and go from there. Fully adjustable (ie castor, camber, toe) suspension front and rear will cost you about half of what a rear beam alone costs on a cossie, parts of every kind are pretty cheap and everywhere, engines strong and can be tuned to big power easily, etc etc etc.

If I wanted 4wd id just get an Evo, prob an Evo3 and spend the rest of the money making it a weapon rather than a more standard later one.

Apologies - my comment has misled.

Race pace is to a degree not what I was talking about - the Cosworth is lets face it hopeless around a track such as the Ring.

I accept the basic R33 is a quick car around the ring, but it doesnt feel that interesting unless with the sunny side of 400bhp in my experience of driving them. This is subjective, not objective.

AMG - No interest whatsoever - I have an M5 which I consider to be a better car than the E55AMG. I have a friend who has one the same as yours Phil, and my M5 mullered it!

E46 M3 - nah - too slow in a straight line!

RS4 - too expensive!

Lots and lots and lots - and they still dont go round bends! . Nice car though to be fair -

Phil - I could more see you in the CL55 AMG - more of a pimp wagon Awsome looking thing!

Alps Pacino - I have heard nothing but good things about the Integra - apparently one of the few FWD cars that has the characteristics of a RWD engine. However, not quite what I am after at this stage.

st3v3 - Hi matey, I will have a read - 450bhp in a Scoob is gonna be pretty impressive!!! I was under the impresssion that such things required major engine internal mods at significant expense.

RWD_cossie_wil - More of a theoretical than an actual at this stage. But the cossie is on seriously thin ice right now!!!!. For the sake of argument, lets say about 10k.

plynchy - 968? Hmmmm - I know very little about these. More research required! At the very least, know thy enemy!!!! ROFL

foreigneRS - Cant say I blame you - I have a friend who describes his Scooby as unreliable because a sensor went once - he has no idea!!!!!!

No, you think its fixed, you will find out soon the way in which you are wrong, as it is in fact currently broken.

Quick Reply: So what car could you replace a cosworth with then?
