regards info on production figures, this came from KARMANN so its
as good as it gets

from the historical department at Karmann they gave me this information.

7145 completed veichles, 937 bodyshells, 8082 in total.

Completed cars
1992 - 3,448
1993 - 1,143
1994 - 1,180
1995 - 1,306
1996 - 68

Bodyshells
1992 - 124
1993 - 225
1994 - 369
1995 - 110
1996 - 109

also the thing with the sierra 4dr cosworth and the 3dr they were built
from shells available to mainstream ford models, the escort cosworth
was bespoke for rallying, and was a feat of engineering.
ford shoved a sierra into a front wheel drive escort.
thats why they are special and do big bucks imo

cool cheers,be interesting to know how many are left registered over here.900 dont sound many.

it is true that the esc cos is a bit special.did they shorten the saff chassis?cos i dont get why the escy handles better than the saff 4x4 being as they have the same drive train

Aerodynamics
people find that over a certain speed escort cosworths don't go as fast
as say a 2wd sierra, and thats spot on if its standardish,
the escort was built to go rallying and such has spoilers designed to
keep it held down, and the track is wider to keep it more stable.
if you look under the bonnet of a escort cos you can see the sierra
bulkhead and inner wings where they meet the escort mk5 stuff
also the floorpan has been modified to fit the escort
it wasn't a case of just welding it in.
people tend to forget how much of a job it was to acheive the car
ford wanted to go international rallying they built the escort cosworth
its a part of ford motorsport history

I would like a nice low mileage escos, around the 350-400bhp mark, and I know I will have to pay probably 16K+ for the right one.
