My gf got her's off e-bay too for £20, then got someone on RSOC to make her up a new dash to hold it in place
I can't find any on e-bay at the minute though, wouldn't mind one myself

The gauge is covered by a lifetime warranty for such defects, although I have been having this problem for the last 18 months since they switched manufacture from the UK to Malaysia and so am trying to find an alternative gauge, because they seem reluctant to address the issue.
The two LED back-lights share a capacitor and sometimes if one LED draws more current than the other, it causes a shunting back and forth situation, which burns out the capacitor. We have even provided a diagram and written explanation as to the problem and told them to redesign the gauge to our required format, with a capacitor for each LED, but nothing has been changed .
I don't know why they were perfect with the odd failure when they were made in the UK, but now the failure rate has increased so dramatically over the last few 18 months since the switch to Malaysia.
It is only the back-lighting that seems to be an issue and they said that they would rather replace the gauges under warranty than redesign the existing gauge, as a new one is supposed to be imminent that should resolve these issues as well as read up to 999°C. However, this gauge has been four years in the waiting . We are currently looking at an alternative manufacturer in an attempt to resolve this. I can only apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
The back-lighting either works for-ever (the one in my car is 6 years old!), or fails within a matter of weeks.
Any faulty gauges will be replaced FOC .
