Laid up means car is in garaged laid up and not in use. Only insured for Theft and damage, and not use on the road etc.

I'm with dominion (RSOC insurance) and when the car was off the road, they changed my policy to laid up, cost me £100 a year instead of £700 odd

As soon as the car was ready, quick phone call, and policy re-instated to full road use

Never knew you could change insurance to 'not in road use' or the like, although the cossie is on classic policy already so not that much to insure

Shouldn't, if you're TPFT, then you should be able to insure the car against Fire and Theft only.
If you're Third Party only, then you need to change that to Fire and Theft only

I use Boncaster from the RS owners club scheme and they do a lay up policy if you take your car off the road, which I have to do when I go to sea! Cheap as chips and your no claims bonus stays intact.

Surely other companies must do it?
