I personally had a liner in my 470 bhp Cossie engine.

No problem at all.

Price things up and see how they compare. Done right, a liner is a perfectly acceptable way to repair an engine.

its a focus RS by the way,

yes its destroyed, melted number 2 & 3 pistons, and its damaged the bore pretty bad,

to fit 2 liners am looking at £60 per liner,
obv + pistons ect,

but i can get a new short block built up and fitted into car for around £2k from collins
i think this is the option i am going to take tbh

Why can't you simply rebore?

Who told you that you couldn't?

Is it due to the lack of oversize pistons?

Look at pistons from the states for zetecs. They do several oversizes.

A rebre and set of forged pistons should set you back £500 if you can do the work yourself.

Thats bolocks.

Its just a zetec block and i have had a few of them rebored.

You can get 1mm oversize pistons from the states so unless you have done more than 0.5mm damage to the bore, which i doubt, you will be ok.
