Ł3k for the "Mullet" box is just for the internals, you then have the additional costs of fitting into your casing, which is around Ł700. Also if you wish to go launching, you need to uprate the first gear and main shaft (which like the Fixit kit, uses the OE items), this then ups the price by another Ł1500ish. THEN you have a bullet-proof set up that you can go launching with .
If you're not bothered about this aspect, then no need to change these items. My own car uses standard first gear and main shaft . Also the Mullet box is fully straight cut, so can be a little noisy, but adds to the "motorsport" feel .
To show how good this kit is, we use the Mullet first gear and main shaft in the Fixit kits for people that want the reduced noise of the semi-straight cut gears these use, but still want the strength and ability to go launching.

ah so its not that cheap then!i take it the oe 1st ans 2nd wont put up with many launches then?
most of my driving is motorway but i do like a trip to the pod every now and then too.
but saying that i dont really want over 450 bhp due to engine life expense.
450 is a fast car i think.

Second gear is replaced, it's only the first gear that remains OE .
In Sweden before the availability of the uprated first gear, they would "life" the OE first gear (as in change it after so many launches - if it didn't fail by then ). However, Ford discontinued the part (like they do ) and now you either have to use your existing first or buy the uprated version.

Personally I'd go for a 6spd FFd. Double H pattern will set you about 8k twice that if you want sequential. Get it maintained by Baramotorsport and its happy days

how much is the 'fix it' kit then,as i thought this was similarly priced but you had the benifit of the 'mullet' being all built up.

Chip,
That is 100% true about the supply issue, but this is soon to be resolved, as Bjorn has invested huge money in a machine that does the finishing of the gear kits (due to the guy who used to do it for him dieing ). The first "new" batch should be ready imminently .
Dave,
You know what "thought" did .

I had heard the rumours that they were unable to find anyone else who could replicate some old boy who had died's work on the finish too.
Sounds like he was a properly skilled old guy, I love stuff like that
Is the new equipment going to raise the price due to the investment cost, or lower it due to larger scale production, or leave it unaltered?

Put it this way, I have not been asked for any more money for the kit I have on order so far .
