Default Anyone ever bent a 2wd beam due to hard full grip launch?

went to central day and managed a 1.6 60ft 11.3 1/4 in my 2wd saph and since and my rear wheels are pointing all directions and handles really poo, ive check all door gaps etc and they are mint had it on the ramp at work and everything is mint?

please no silly replies regarding the shell or rot and shell strength due to old age it was a brand new shell not to long ago! and bushes are near new!

this IS a suspension geometry issue!

could it not be you bushes that have collapsed under hard stress?

carnt really see you bendiing a beam from a hard launch tbh

unless you have twatted it sideways into a kerb

i did that and it put my rear beam out by 2 degrees but also took the shell

check the bushes mate

1.6 60ft

i'd be surprised if the beam itself is bent in all honesty.

all the bushes are perfectly mint , polly bushed beam with axle tightening kit std rose jointed rear arms, and i run bilstien coil overs, the beam itself looks fine but when it was re shelled it was due to being slid into a tree side ways and the old beam was fit to the new shell, i replaced the beam for a good one and all was well now after last sunday the wheels are now sitting simiar to what they were when the old beam was bent but on close inspection of that you couldn't find any bend or kink so i'm thinking its bent in a similiar manor, and no its not been kerbed

p.s cheers for the comments on the 60ft

Bendy bendy!

If it's not bushes, not the shell, it can only be a bent arm/beam. I'd suspect the beam before the arm though.

Is the beam standard?!

As Daz says, probably the beam before an arm...

Beam is almost standard Rad. It has elongated bolt holes for adjustment but they haven't moved. Not enough to put the wheel out as much as it has anyway.

surely there are parts far weaker than the beam that get loaded up which would have bent 1st?

I done my diff at Central Day

Fitted another one today and killed it on my first launch

I think your diff will die first.

Not really Rad. The arm should stop any movement being the shape that is it. It just swings up and down in some form of arc that makes the Cossie geometry shit when on hard acceleration.

Correct. I think he got a little pissed off after smashing about the 7th diff and snapping the pinion shaft. Now on a Quaife..

The car was launching fucking hard on the day. It also had a breif problem with tramp on the run prior to the 11.3 while launching.

i can only stess so much that the car was perfect before central day and has only arisen since then! the beams are so much weaker than the other items such as rear arms and shockers, thats why i was wondering if it had happened to any one else?

sounds like your pretty sure it's the beam then?

i'd get it whipped off and checked...i think Brom has a jig he could probably check it over.

sounds like you may need a strapped version

How do you stop tramping ?

This is what mine is doing which i think is the cause of my diff failures.

There is no mention anywhere of the DIFF MOUNT ?
Try checking this as it is also forming part of the rear beam geometry.

I would most certainly replace the diff mount with an uprated item if the diff was out, seems silly not too.

ricky if you have solid mounted the diff then the beam is bent, ive bent a few in the past, you can mod them around the tube to increase their strength

alot of the rally / club mans they strap wrap the beam and weld sections on the outer part of the beam for extra strenth

mine has had box sections welded on the outer part of the beam

where it starts to straighten

is it standard if so its bound to break at the pod what power you running ?
as for beams bending on a rally or hitting somthing yes but road and track no they will not bed mike recently had his beam revamped so to speek i bolted his beam back into the jig after 4 yrs of road and track abuse and it all lined up perfectly even with the extra leaverge from the zoo mods on the centre of the beam it still did not twist
