To be honest- I got it last night..

Listened to it twice and I'm not convinced..

I think it goes stunningly down hill after the first 1 or 2 songs.

The really slow one in the middle I had to skip 2nd time round after the first play when I sat in my car thinking what the fuck~?????

I dare say others will disagree which is fine- but I really liked the first album- it made me smile and want to listen to it... this one doesn't.

No doubt it will do amazingly well.

I would disagree there, as Morning Glory was just as awsome as Definitely Maybe IMO, I think that it was after that album when Oasis lost it a wee bit.

Never been into the Monkey's at all, catchy tunes, but just don't feel the songs have the same depth as Oasis' tunes

not heard the album gotta wait til pay day tomorrow before i get the first listen....

quality band, theres some quality tunes but i dont think you can compare them to oasis until the 3rd album as they've probably had the first 2 albums written pretty much before they got signed up.

i would say kasabian are on a par with oasis but i dont think the arctic monkeys have reached their level yet but it will more than likely happen in the future.

i feel every band reaches a stage where they lose touch with the public cos of the big houses and the rolls royce's and cant write songs that will reach into everyone. i personally think thats a big reason why a lot of people went off oasis and probably loads of other bands too.

Its not doing it for me at the moment and I've listened to it about 5 times since Monday.

Brianstorn is a quality tune and everything I love about the Monkeys. However the rest is far too soft and slow compared to what they have produced in the past. I'm sure it will grow but at the moment I am dissappointed.

totally agree. I was talking future myself. I wouldnt exactly compare them to oasis as they are uite different, i was only comparing them to Oasis's stature

I was readin up on Oasis as i was bored last night, and i cannot beleive it too while 2000? IIRC for def maybe to go platinum

Got it last night, i like Brianstorm, Flourescent Adolescent and 505

the others will prob grow on me,

they are a good band but its always hard to produce a 2nd album especially after the high level the 1st set the bar at, im sure they will go on for a few years yet.

Jumping Jack Crash is right about the bands reaching a point where they lose touch with the fans who made them what they are, i dont see this happening to Artic Monkeys, could be wrong though

Got album its a grower first time I listened I though yeah its all right a guess but the more I listen the more I like it, Its always hard for a band not to lose touch especially for bands like that arctic monkey's that sing about every day stuff you see walking down as there fame does not let them live the life they had before.

Gutted I missed them last week at the barrowlands in Glasgow such an great venue so much atmosphere

does that mean to say until year 2000 to go platinum? are you sure thats a good source? you sure thats right?

i think it will happen tbh. theres only gonna be so many songs you can write about prostitutes, bar brawls and gettin cabs home pissed. once they get enough money to buy there country manor and there covering their cornflakes in white powdered angels. whos gona relate to them sort of songs. i think even noel gallagher said a few years back that its hard to write songs after you get the success and no one wants to hear lyrics about success...

wildheart bit of a bold statement there fella..... what bands you into then?

Im not into shite or i would be listening to arctic monkeys

I prefer musicians with talent such as Ginger and the sonic circus with a collection of some of the finest musicians around
May not ever be a comercial success as they do it all D.I.Y.

Arctics are just a trend that people will no doubt forget about soon.

what ginger cunt? and sonic the hedgehog plays in a band now?

is charlie dimmock the bass player seein as its all D.I.Y?

i liesten to a lot of unsigned acts.... love a small gig but you cant knock the big boys and throw some unknowns into the arena as better.. cos if they was better they'd be the biggest new band around like the sheffield boys

true you get a lot of untalented people around but i dont think you can class the arctic monkeys are untalented. they write and play instruments on all there songs. fair enough if they licked simon cowells arse for 6 months
