Aircon pump reconditioning?
Anyone know of any good Aircon pump reconditioners, My small turbo escos pump packed up last year, I have a horrible feeling it is the clutch, as my mate Si refilled the system for me, then it worked fine for about 30 seconds then poured stinking black smoke out and stopped worknig again - Can't seem to find any local companies to do it I'm in the midlands BTW
Any idea on how much it should cost?

£200 is cheap for a pump mate!
Then you'll need a new dryer as that cathes all the shit from your old dead pump, then a recharge (obviously)
wouldn't bother with 2nd hand, i'll see if I can get a better price for you, but i'm not going to hold my breath.

Testing the future
if you buy a second hand one with a good clutch, i can swap it over onto your compressor body for you.
but it's rare for the clutch to just slip and pack up without an internal fault causing it. it can happen from excessive wear, contamination of the surfaces etc, but more common for it to slip when the compressor is seized.
can you turn the shaft of the compressor easily and smoothly by hand? if you've got it off the car, have you drained the oil out? what colour is it?
by this time, you will want new oil in it any way as the old will have absorbed too much moisture.
personally, i would take the £200 option - that's a good price. speak to jim mcclean and see if he'll give you a discount saying that nick from sanden sent you. i haven't met him, but my colleague ian dale does a lot of business with him.
i would say £200 is a fair price to pay for the comfort that you get from it.
