There are two types, the EVO and the non EVO

According to BMW, the Non EVO produced about 290 odd, and the EVO had about 320 odd.

Rumour has it that the BMW overstated the power of the EVO. Even if not, given that they are all older now, you prob wouldnt see more than I guess 310 odd from the EVOs

Even so - properly good cars imho

Cawood
E30 was the origonal box'y left hand drive M3

Then they moved onto the E36 M3'S which would be the model you would get if you went for the K plate.

and then moved onto the E46 - which is the more recent model.

Its not just about BHP, the cossie would have loads more of torque across most parts of the rev range.

yes andreas, but its not about torque all over the rev range as such, its about power all over the rev range... lol

i love mine, but its not the most exciting thing to drive ina straight line, power is delivered so very smoothly, you dont really feel like youre accelerating.

as for m3 vs cossie? i dont really care which is quicker, i'd rather be sitting in the m3

a LOT of car for the money, well worth a look!

ps if youre rich, get the e46 instead, better car in ever respect

I had a non evo e36 and it would usually get going over 100 mph...

Remeber the non evos dont have a speed limiter and will run onto a genuine 165-170.

Aint no stage one cossie doing that.

ditto, i have an evo and sometimes you don't realise that you are actually getting a peg on, its so smooth and progressive!!

I would guess that it is about 300hp, not sure on the torque, it just feels very quick!!!

The last four EVO m3's done on my freinds rollers recorded 301, 289, 291.
These were all running fine, and this is the norm I am told.
Top speed M3 going to win as he has better gearing, but cossie get there faster stage one IMO, I have killed afew M3 evo, very very close though up to 110/120, then I pull away, just!!!!

yeah just a little lol
trouble is there no good roads where you can get it flat out like in the uk, well theres a couple but you run the risk of a copper being parked up late at night or early morning, and the drivers over here and fucking dickwits to do in the daytime lol

Evos are totally reliant on services, sooo many people do not get the valve clearances done, as it's massive time over and above the normal hours of a service, however it is a critical part. They must run at least 98 ron or above and not be in motorway mode otherwise they will drop loads of power and most of these RR figures I see suggest they are run on shit fuel with shit services and have travelled miles at steady speed to get there. I saw a a guy filling up an Evo on Morrisons 95 ron These are highly tuned cars and are a million miles away from the 3.0 in terms of development and I have both and know what they do back to back. Keeping a 3.2 in tune cost serious money, most people simply cannot afford it and skimp. I've got reciepts for over 1.5k for a service!
