removing swirl marks??
whats best to remove swirl marks in my paintwork 
its a black car and when polished its fuckin full of swirl marks, can any one recomend what to do and the best stuff to use

Porter's are overrated massively, better results can be acheived with a rotary, and they are far cheaper.

Try Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine for simple one step soultion. It is filler heavy, and works incredibly well on black cars by hand. If you are still not happy then you need to look at machine polishing.

im not doughting you can get good result with them. Put if your not good at it you can fuck it up terrible.

Pefect for occasional work - Makita's etc are better, but unless you use it every day in a body shop, you are unlikely to wear that out.

try lookin over on www.detailingworld.co.uk mate, a world of info on there! and ive got both a porter cable and rotary, and it is eassy to mess up paint with a rotary if you dont kno what your doing, i would stick with a PC for beginners

dont use a rotary unless you know what youre doing . autoglym is shite too ! not my words but a proper valeters (as in tarts up porsches and the like , not corsa's in a supermarket carpark)
200 odd quid will get you a nice paint resore and wax that'll last 6 months then you can just top up yourself by hand
money better spent than making half arsed attempts with halfords gear and a jumped up angle grinder .

autoglym is fat from shit, they have some of the best products around, u just need to know how they fit in with a particulat paint finish. Any true pro will use a variable speed rotary.

Chap I know, will get rid of all your swirls for Ł90-Ł100, takes him like 2 days, but the results are excellent. He uses a Porter cable.
Do a search for Steve sorteds FRS, I know he did that and its spot on.

Nowt wrong with AG products - they just seem to be out of fasion at the moment
Porter Cables work well but take longer to cut back paint (therfore safer) than a rotary.
A rotary in skilled hands will work quickly and very well, a rotray in unskilled hands can burn though paint or in a mild case swap your swirls for holograms, just have a look around your local BM forecort (at dark cars in direct sun)
I wouldnt say the PC was over rated :

Just a normal wash with the bodywork shampoo, no polish/wax

autoglym super resin and extra gloss protection are good products!! SRp contains fillers which mask swirls and light scratches but it is not an abrasive polish and will not remove any marks! EGP is a goos quality sealent that has good durability!
i use meguairs pro range polishes atm when doing paint correction, and i use both a rotary and PC for the job.... rotary is harder to use tho! my advice is if u dont really kno what you are doing, then dont waste Ł200 on stuff that you may end up doing damage with, instead pay a professional to do the work for you!

Yep , i polished the shit out of my 3 door last week (black) and in certain light it was swirly
Washed, then auto glym super resin , then extra gloss protection , did`nt really notice it once i put on the later though , someone mentioned "mopping" if this is the corrt word lol , says its the real deal ? has this been mentioned yet

its easy to make any car look good in pics. AG is ok, thats it though, ok. I could wash a car in fairy liquid and take some pics of it looking good in sunlight. Get up close and see the swirls in a halogen light. Rotary is what the pros use but theres the clue, the pros. So much damage can be done before you realise whats happened. Keeping it to low rpm will save you from this but as above, a porter cable is much safer and still gives results better than could be achieved by hand and AG.

What caused the swirl marks?????
was it compound or somthing else.
i reckon FARCELA G10 with a sponge polishing mop would sort it.
its quick and takes scratches out,its also used dry
does not leave loads of residue

btw AG is not as good other products. I used AG for years - once I tried Poorboys and Clearkote I would never go back!

Alex - the sponge doesn't, it's the shit in the sponge! So a "sponge" soft polishing mop is fine - farcela G10 is very fine, comparable to SSR1 and will take a while to do anything other than fine swirls.
AG products are good!!!!! I use clearcote on mine too PB an Mez stuff on my car, but AG provides a useful addition to any detailers tool kit

Done a 3 stage process using Clearkote products and i was very impressed i must say
all this is without any machines just good ol elbow grease
i dont use a sponge to wash the car and have just started to use drying towels for drying and found this to give good results
