yes im aware of that but ive also read the spec and its clear mikes spent more on the engine than most spend on a car.
and harvey built it so its hardly surprising mikes happy with it.

Just popped on to passionford to have a read of whats what at the moment. Read this thread and can't believe u are all grown men. Honestly - go find something better to do than arguing over dyno figures.

Totally ridiculous that we are all into driving fast cars and somehow lose the plot so badly that we start arguing over a line on a piece of paper. These cars are all built for different purposes. How about people just get on and enjoy them. Chances are Mike would give u all a passenger lap round the Nurburgring in his car, so why not just get over it and move along.

Is this STILL going ?

1. My T4 is not a "normal" T4. In fact it could not run on a 2 litre engine as it would surge for England, or require the boost being sverly capped down the bottom end.
2. I saw with my own eyes the jump it made by adding an extra 1 psi (it may have been nearly 2psi, as the Superflow does not record decimal places, so the 30psi setting, may have been only 29.5psi as it rounds up / down as per the norm - and the 31psi, may have been 31.4psi).
3. If I stuck an additional 6psi through it like YUM's engine, then it would have PISSED 500lb ft, but I don't like running turbos this hard (and neither does Harvey), as it WILL just break thinks / cause high ACTs etc. My car is for ME and I told Harvey when to stop. 31psi gave me much more than I was expecting (given that we back to backed the standard T4 to see the difference the new turbo gave).
4. I can assure you that the graph is lovely and has a huge power spread from 3500-8500 - much wider than most Cossies, which only have a 4000rpm wide power band.
5. I am happy, that is ALL that counts .
6. I may re-dyno the engine, as I am led to believe that the Nikasil liners release some extra power due to the huge reduction in friction these give .

Dave,
It made 450lb ft with just 31psi - but that is thanks in large due to improved rod angle, extra capacity and new turbo . A 2 litre engine with standard rods would have been no more than 410lb ft at this boost level.

I don't think a 2 litre would achieve 500lb ft on Harvey's dyno without the aid of race fuel with the required boost level .

Lee's engine with standard length rods, pump fuel and 2 litre capacity made 427.3ft/lb (or as Clarkson would say... 427 Torques) at 28psi boost...

Martin,
Sorry, I should have qualified my statement - I meant with a normal T4, just so you could see the improvement the hybrid and extra mods made .

Which coupled with my quite incredible (and apparently dangerous ) driving skills was enough to get around you at Combe

Only Joking mate Is my engine going to make more Torque on the smaller Turbo but running a big midrange spike then Martoooon?

I NEED to be faster than 'Peggy'

Yes it did . ADAC have been awesome and I would recommend them to anyone. Best Ł50 I have ever spent . Last year they recovered me to Julich (60 miles from the 'Ring) to cure the drive shaft maladies.

This Easter, first they recovered me from the side of the track (another popped drive shaft ), then repatriated the car after the engine woes .

I even mentioned about the hydraulic handbrake and the usual German efficiency have taken care of it .

Phil,
Regarding the engine, a head gasket failure would mean I would have the car back for the weekend, hence wishing for that.

If it is the head, that means waiting for Nick to do me a new one (several weeks).

If it is the liners, that will mean the block going off to Perfect Bore and being machined for Nikasil ones, which is a 4-6 week lead time BEST case scenario, which means the car would be off the road for the best part of 8 weeks .

what is ADAC and what do they do..?

Mike

Was that the ADAC Plus at 79.5 Euros? Seems much better value than the AA one - did you just mail the PDF form to Munchen or fax it to them?
I was looking into it ( for my Nurburgring trip ) and was wondering if there was any problem repatriating to UK.......I guess not.

Cheers

Mike,

You really are a gaylord (in the nicest way )

You say that your car "is for you" but have a resto thread on the internet
for all to see. This includes your engine, what components are used
and how you want it to perform.

It is only natural that a car as sorted as yours and due to your own
popularity that people are genuinely interested.

YOU MADE IT PUBLIC AND HAVE BOTTLED OUT AT THE FINAL HURDLE.

GRAPH or STFU
