Not sure if you can buy them mate to be honest. I've just changed one of mine though from an old tca, it was easy enough to do.

Not to sure on the MOT failure side of things but i'd be pretty sure they will fail

theoretically they aren't available seperately, but go to your local factors and get the cheapest balljoints you can get with suitable size boots and swap them over
taking the MOT rules to the letter they shouldn't fail if there is no play in the joints, as that is what is specified to test, but in practice they are likely to fail and should be replaced anyway as it will lead to trouble if left.

in the longer run it would be fixed but the mot runs out on the 19th

how easy is it to get the ball joint out of whatever it goes into etc

does the arb have to come out etc ?

The complete tca's are awkward to change if polybushed mate. I'd do like rich said and just change the rubber bit, as like he said, you'll be able to get a similar sized balljoint to take the rubber from

thanks very much tony, the only problem is that the car is going to liverpool for a little neatening up of the bodywork and is being mot'd while its there,

will have to see what happens but that ebay link you popped up looks like a winner

what do you need to get the ball joint from the hub ? do you just simply undo a nut and it all comes down etc ?

how do you know if the ball joint is knackered due to lack of grease ?

questions questions lol

Undo the nut or pinch bolt yes

If the ball joint is knackered or worn it will be limp and floppy, it should be stiff and upright.

Avoided all the temptations with those words there

fpmsl

so its a case of in simple terms

A) jack car up

B) remove wheel

C) undo pinch bolt or nut

D) pull bottom arm out

E) check ball joint

F) refit new rubber boot

G) put ball joint back in place tighten up put wheel back on and off the jack ?

Looks like this lol

Just carefully take off your own and then replace it back on the new boot.

Pack with a bit of new CV grease if the ball joint is still ok

and you'll probably need to lever the arm down due to the upward pressure from the antiroll bar
