ive bought a 18.d gearbox for a rs turbo and it is ment to have a lsd fitted how can i test it befor i put it in.

Turn one wheel forwards, if the other goes forwards too, LSD.

If it goes backwards, not!

Look down the hole where the drive shaft goes and if there its just a circle its got a lsd if it has a bar going accross its not

is this true for a standard erst box and standard rst lsd, i have a feeling the bloke thats just stung me mate 500 to put a new lsd in his box is pulling a fast 1

Yep as above ALL ERST boxes should have NO bare going through the when you look through where the shafts go.

I mean if you jack it up both wheels wil turn the same way, i doubt he will want to strip it down to check seens as though he's just got it back on the road lol

my s2 had a receipt for an RST gearbox and it defo didnt have an LSD in it either

Ye funny that eh lol, the thing is ben paid for a lsd to be put in as it was the diff that melted. The reason i'm doubting it is because it was supposed to have had 1 in it when the same bloke rebuilt his box and it blatently never, it used to just spin the 1 wheel up as soon as it hit boost lol

standard LSDs are utter toss with about 10% lock anyhow.

does the both wheels forward thing work on them? if the diffs not got any pre-load (can imagine a lot of stock diffs havent) thatd not work anyhow really?

I know the stock lsd is wank anyway but its better than nothing and if he's paid for a lsd he should have 1
