Default anyone know the torque rating of a std 4x4 clutch?

anyone know wot theyre rated to?

also i remember mikeR saying about the new ones are shat... is this 4x4 aswell as 2wd?

i think my clutch will die when it starts getting any sort of power put thru it, so just looking at my options...

i dont wanna go for an uprated clutch if a std cossie one will be man enuf for the job. (i assume ive got a std v6 one in there at the moment, which i beleive does not have as high a torque rating...)

gearbox is a RWD V6 MT75 by the way, and i assume this is interchangeable with a 4x4 cossie (as i know the V6 4x4 boxes are)

Jim,
All Cosworth clutches are the same, with only the release bearing being different between the two gearboxes.

I would imagine that they will be more than suitable for your engine (if compatible with your flywheel), as your torque is never going to exceed stage 1 power, which the standard clutches will be okay for.

Cheap as chips as well - £100 for a complete clutch .

i would expect to see 300+ lbft even with <300bhp

i cant prove that in any way, and am basing that upon hearsay and experience with 12v engines (as im not a 24v expert by ANY streh of the imagination!)

but i'd be a bit pissed off if i didnt beleive it and fitted a clutch with a lower torque rating than i needed, then found out it WAS true and my nice new clutch was shit

i Have a escort cossie clutch and pressure plate on mine and its shit.

If a dump the clutch from standstill the fooker slipps, what a nice smell

From whats on other BBS is if you use a escort cossie pressure plate it does not work correctly due to diff engine res and torque.

A standard cossie clutch with a 2.9 pressure plate. As you are rear wheel drive so the wheels will slip it should be ok

Jim

i put a new standard escort cossie clutch on mine the other day, my cars making 330-340bhp stage 3

first time I went in boost it slipped, and has continued to slip ever since if I try and boot it in high gears, so gear box back out on friday and a AP paddle clutch going in.

dont think you want a standard clutch on anything more than 280bhp, especially if your flywheel is atall worn, as it just wont grip.
