Not quite true - they can be reused lots, but you need to occassionally check the studs for stretch.

All bolts stretch on this sort of pressure. the ARP site I think provides stretch gauges to see how much they have stretched over time. When they get past a certain point, I believe they should then be renewed.

It is all related to their elastic strength (I think!)

That said, I am on the fifth time with mine, and no worries so far

Well said mate - you're absolutely right.

Should check for stretch each time you reuse and replace when out of tolerance

I have had no such experience, and cant understand why this would be the case, providing the instructions are followed properly

No stud is going to cause a crack in the head, especially when it is the same size as the one that comes out!!
They have probably got stories like this jackanory one because most stud kits are fitted to UPGRADED anyway, and 2wd have been known to crack around head bolts if stud or bolts are used anyway.
The engine(2wd)never designed for this amount of power, and is only a tranny engine in disguise!!
Why did they change things ?, because of problems.

its the block that can crack, through the bolt holes ,

the studs dont give like normall bolts do, and at high boost they can crack, thats why long studding is the better option.

but saying that i use the arp kit at 32 psi and have never had an issue

Peicher & Voln used them on a 48psi engine for over 150,00(km's) without problem.
