just done a tiling job for a couple, and they asked me to do some painting too, basiclly ive painted around 11-12 sq/metres of walls, 12-14 sq/metres of ceiling, 3 doors and doorframes and around 8metres of skirting board, its taken me around 10-11 hours. i was gonna charge them £100 - roughly £10 per hour, but is that about right for fairly straight forward painting as i have no idea! bearing in mind i probably took longer than a professional would have, and the job probably isnt quite as good?
anyone tell me what they/their firm charge? for that kind of work/hourly rate?

Charge the equivalent hourly rate you would charge for tiling, as you could have earnt that if you had done another tiling job instead of painting.
Unless you your hourly rate for tiling is cheaper than a painter then charge the higher rate.

thing is i charged them £250 for the tiling which took around 12 hours plus a bit of fucking around driving to get the tiles then returning for a few extra etc. cant really be charging em £20 an hour for slapping some paint on can i?!

£20 an hour aint really that much though in the grand scheme of things anymore.
depends how much business and word of mouth you reckon could get also.
reasonable approach to find out going rate - maybe a degree of discount due to experience but like said you could of been tiling somewhere else.
