Guide to making a fault code reader for my cosworth

I found a website not so long ago which had a guide how to make a fault code reader for a sierra cosworth but the site is now offline. Anyone know anywhere it could be.

you need a paperclip and a bulb

join 2 pins and read out the flashes from the 3rd

Which pins do I connect and where does the bulb connect to in the plug?
