Being a complete 'tard but whats the deal with wire ringing? I've heard plenty of people go on about it but what advantage does it have on your engine (if any)?

Having a small groove machined into the block around each cylinder (prob about 3 to 5mm from the edge)

Then wire is tapped into the groove - similar to mig wire say
that way half the wire is sitting in the groove & half sitting proud of the block face.

When you torque the head down the wire digs into the head gasket and forms a better seal

Simple but effective way of reducing leakage.

If your block has been done in the it will only need re- wireing
