Is it possible to give the injectors a quick clean at home? if so how is it done? or is it really a job for the profesionals?

Pro job as the flow rates need to be checked afterwards

the flow rates is probably the bit you could possibly do yourself...but they get cleaned ultrasonically i believe....so unless you have an ultrasonicadoofer then i doubt you could do them

i know that much!! but you only need some fairly basic stuff...ok you probably wouldn't go to the hassle of doing it to test 1 set of your own injectors, but it's a fairly basic task

they need to be flow tested under pressure so unless you can pressurise them with a home kit then it would be very hard

Had mine done today, on a LUCAS ASNU, three were 80(cc?) one was 77, so pretty good, only took 1 minute if that.
I asked about cost of machine, about £3k, no diy for me then with cleaning them!!

all you need is a tank of fuel, a fuel pump and pressure reg, a fuel rail and a power supply to the injectors and a 12v supply for the pump...not exactly quantum physics

but i agree the cleaning isn't as simple

I love these people, build one for £200 then and make yourself a shed load of money while other people who know more than I or you pay £3k for them, I am sure they would rather pay £3k than £200 ?
As to it being just a few bits of pipe etc and not being quantum physics, EXACTLY HOW IS PUTTING THE SAME FLUID THROUGH GOING TO CLEAN THEM, is it because they are no longer in the car ????
It is the VARNISH that exists in the petrol, that causes it, from what has been said they would be being cleaned all the time then wouldn't they ?, in which case they would not ever need cleaning especialy as the SAME cleaning could not be any different ?, well at least you would save yourself £200.
The pump on the ASNU is more than £200 on it's own, and some miss the word ULTRASONIC, oh plus the drivers etc etc.

READ WHAT I WROTE!!!!!!! i simply said to FLOW TEST them isn't exactly quantum physics!!!!!! i don't know exactly how they are cleaned which is why i said this part would be best left to a pro!!!

dont think ultrasonic tanks are anything special,,, they are a bath with a few ultrasonic transducers glued to the bottom plate of the tank,, and a high power frewquancy generator powering them!
one of my tasks in work is to fix and setup ultrasonic cleaning baths

i've got a small ultrasonic bath for cleaning jewellery etc - could that be used to clean injectors? what fluid would you use, doesn't really matter i guess?

Or there are cheaper smaller ones for about £15.

A home rig for testing injectors is a piece of wee to make.

Just don't be smoking around it!

As above, perfectly possible to do it at home, especially the testing side of it, but its never worth the hassle just for one set of injectors and would leave you massively out of pocket!
