LCD is shite compared to CRT projectors however they're alot smaller and lighter. A mate of mine has 3 CRT's , 1 in his cellar/home cinema room and 2 spare

Raj, don't bother with electric, bling but gimmick really, spend the extra money on a better one and you'll have some spare money for a replacement bulb for your LCD. I bought mine off a friend so can't recommend anyone off the web.

folks, crt projector IS best if you have a dark room and don't mind having a huge bulge on your ceiling, LCD/DLP next best if you want to watch in near-daylight (obviously dark is better but not as good as CRT).
Size for size, plasma and LCD panels are better than LCD projector, but where have you seen a 120" plasma screen ?
I am looking at a 120" picture now, may not be the very best quality, but coupled with half decent sound you soon forget to look at the detail cos you're trying to find somewhere to hide behind the sofa.

i got a panasonic lcd projector. it cost me £1100 2 years ago. i also own a pansaonic rear projection screen and me pal down the road has both these and also a 42" plasma (dont recall the make). the pansonic projector is leagues ahead of the others and i think its only half that price now (but other stuff is prob cheaper as well). the reason that its better is cos its only 2 kg heavy, you can put it anywhere in the house you like, you can point it at any wall you fancy (with one of those video senders) and if you point it at a white wall the brightness much exceeds the plasma for the same size, but you of course have the option of small telly tubbies or 10 foot high telly tubbies if you want. to get a decent sized picture (say 50 inch) you need a HUGE box for the rear proj which eats uo half your living room and thats its size - fixed, but if size matters youll soon want more.
its also fantastic for xbox.
need the curtains closed for light reduction but you dont want a big screen for normal tv watching anyway. the reason for this is cos no matter how big your screen, you cant change the picture resolution. this means that with a big screen, you eyes tend to focus on a PART of the picture rather than the whole picture as would normally be the case. this results in your eyes discerning the lower relative resolution of this picture. the very fact that your eye s are moving around the picture (subconcielsly) alos make it tiring after a while.
go for a projector!
