I was pondering this last week and decided to stick with xp, for now anyways, and apparently it doesnt offer anything over xp other than looks and DX10 gaming.

AND, if it aint broke.........................

dont go for vista yet, wait for a few months until the first service pack comes out.

its not bad, but it seems to have gone 'all mac' like its supposed to be easier to use, with shit loads of wizards and shiny stuff. it looks nice on the outside, but to me it seems like its gona collapse on itself. i dunno though, it hasn't won me over yet

i've installed a few, its dead easy... but still i prefer XP at the mo.

all you will get is abit of eye candy then and a few functionality extras, i dont think its worth it especially as you will more than likely encounter software issues etc, and plus if you dont have a decent graphics card you wont even be getting the eye candy

ERM - eye candy and a bit of functionality differs to previous ms os releases how exactly?

wait for sp1 is a good call though as its a bit buggy.......but still worth it over xp though imo

its a bit easier to use (once you learn where everything is) and looks pretty

at the moment thats all it's got going for it.

has a lot of potential tho, just nothing we're utilising yet tho

For starters with pervious versions of MS they didnt require you to have such a good graphics card just to use it how it was intended AND to run at a nice speed.

I would not bother simply because there is no need. Windows XP is pretty stable in general and if it does all that you need then upgrading will only serve one purpose.
And that is an attempt to impress your peers with eye candy which is not a touch on what is available for OSX and Linux

Considering that Vista offers nothing new other than DX10 which XP is capable of actually running but will not due to Microsoft's plans, the advantages of running vista over xp are minimal other than slightly better security
