If your tacho reads as normal you wont need to fit the mod, I took my clocks apart and found they were different to the instructions so I put them back in the car without doing the mod and it is fine.

Works on inductance like an ABS sensor

Get the dizzy out to make life easy, and measure resistance on the across the connector. Rotate the shaft, and resistance should change when the two ridges pass the sensor.

Gap between phase sensor and the ridges should be between 0.2 and 0.3mm.

Just on this - remember that if the phase sensor it plugged in the wrong way around, the car wont work, but the test will appear normal (albeit inverted).

Double check matey - my car on normal coil would not start at all when the phase sensor was replaced and plugged in wrong way around.

We'll see tomorrow if it's caught anything off yours

The plugs are dumb devices and can only fire if they're given current and voltage...so...you've ruled out the ECU, and the TFI modules. The only thing left is the coil pack and/or leads...

It certainly sounds like a short either on or in something.

Roosie, if you decide to burn it, then we can burn them together. Mine is detonating for no apparent reason as well!

We can have a nice two-cosworth fire!

right back now.

yes the ones in the middle are lives.

the one on the right of the brown plug you've marked should go to pin 21 on the ECU, this the tacho drive.

give me a call if u wish and we can run through all the test again to double check.

Cheers

Roosie is your bike still for sale? i am probably coming up to norfolk at the weekend to see my brother the original.

if you've still got the bike, i would like a ride to see what i think. we'll also have a look at your cossie while we're there and bring another wasted spark ecu to try

Still no joy pal?

Unscrew teh daughter board and try it in a different position mate, in case the ribbon cable is faulty.

There was no need to wait for me either, Kenny has been at work, its only me that was away in germany.

is it mega hassle to throw the dizzy back in and try it off the old system with a different ECU? That would eliminate anything thats not in the ECU/ loom conversion for the wasted spark system if it works ok?
