Yes.
Sometimes Mixing the 2 black ones (Knocka nd phase) will result in a similar problem to what you have now. Have these been off?

Mixing black and white will probably = no run as you will have no crank speed, but i presume stu saw crank speed?

ok I went and had a quick look today.
Didn't have the IAW monitor but had a pectel monitor
on power up got the proper messages
i.e. level 8, MSD803CL
water temp was -55 before we cranked the engine but I have a feeling pectel monitors do that until the engine is running? asking experts...
when cranking the injection was showing 19mS, and ignition was showing 0.00degrees
Must admit I didn't look for cps signal but i did look at the pectel monitor faults after cranking and the only one was 'battery voltage low'
I noted it at 9.9 V @ ecu during cranking
didn't get any 'crank position sensor error' or anything else
spark was still doing it's own thing, seemed to have some sparking on 1 but not 3

there was plenty of unburnt fuel coming out of exhaust

anyway, decided to risk my DIS(secs dis board) L8 on the car
now it's a stage 1 setup was working on easter saturday as ForeigneRS used it to break my engine
put roosies car to stage 1 parts, dark blues/2 bar
wouldn't start
spark was still erattic/ squeeling/ continuous/ missing/ erattic/ whatever

So I ran away
can't think of what else to try until my car comes back from germany
anyone?

Good start, so teh ecu initialises and teh software boots correctly as that is EXACTLY what my 803s Closed loopp software should output.

Yes, very often it does, but will normally output a genuine temperature at cranking speeds.

Intriguing, but again not always a great indicator due to it often needing a decent crank speed to stream correctly.

I would throw a crank and phase sensor on thsi car personally. And TRIPLE check teh wiring to them. A good electrical test of both on L8 is to power up the ecu and then disconnect and reconect the sensors plug. If it at least has continiuity teh pump will prime when you reconnect it. Ive usd that test to find dead ones in teh past.

Also, if this car has the firewall multiplugs, open them and close them 5 or 6 times. this may be enough to fix it.

so your saying put the car on at ignition then take the plug(s) off then out them back on and the pump should prime?

Is this still going on

Not saying people on here are dumb or not knowledgeable but....

What you need is someone with the experience and the right equipment
to solve this obviously difficult problem.

Didnt someone like that offer this on this thread ?

Yes, but that ONLY tests that they are physically connected to teh ecu with no harness breaks, not that the signal when running is reaching them.

The firewall plugs are a FAR bigger cause of non running if you have them? Just to teh left of teh battery.

I'm on P8 with Pectel monitor, and even with engine not running/just ignition on, my monitor shows actual temps.

On my L8 with an IAW monitor, before the engine is started, mine does the exact same thing - reads -55 deg c for both water and air temp. As soon as the engine is cranked, the right temps come up (and works fine)

I think it is just part of the way that the L8 initialises. I guess the P8 is just more up to date!

Stu,

Thanks for your confidence

Roosie,

Just replied to your PM.

FYI, if you havent sussed it by middle next week, I will be in the area
and can have a look for you. Unfortunately, I am quite busy till then.

I have a "proper" digital oscilloscope, a test ecu S8 which can find
faults weber ecu's dont detect and also a 32 channel real time data
logging signal analyser.

I reckon I could figure it out with that little lot pretty quickly

Roosie,

see you still have problems, but as i said by PM, AS everything possible
has been checked, amps, loom, ecu etc, as i said, and i notice stu(msd)
also thinks possible crank sensor or phase, as seems like the ecu is not
getting crank sensor signal for ecu to switch amp for spark.
do you have a spare crank sensor to try.

regards Dave R.
