What type of belt is it?
You can pretty much walk into any motor factor and say you need a particular type of belt and specify the length and they will get belt you need.

it will be a multi groove belt
you need tgo get a bit of string and wrap it round the pulleys very tight so its under tension
then you need to go to the local factors and get one the rough size of the string
from then its trial and error so expect to go back to the factors until you get the rit one
may get away with a belt the same size as a cvh one but int multi groove

Some belt manufacturers list inner diameter some list outer diameter and some list both. Depending of how much you can lose from tensioning
For multi poly-v belts most part numbers will be..... number or ribs, (i'm guessing at 4 or 6 for alt belt??) and then the length (ie 1200mm) so as an example 4PK1200.
Can download many catalogues online for the likes of Gates, Dayco etc.... Gates sizes are often listed in inches so are basically K040472 which would be the equivelent part number for Gates.
I wouldn't try Halfords as they can be a bit dense, but most normal factors will have access to decent volumes af parts catalogues.

Have you done this yourself mate?
It looks miles too long for the escort.
i turned down the pulley so i can remove it without moving the engine
bolted the 1.8cvh sierra alternator pulley onto the erst alternator
machined the sierra alternator mount so it lines up perfect with the bottom pulley
standard 1.8 cvh alternator belt
