Default why do people do this!!!

really really fucks me off when people do things like this.
mate of mine is trying to sell me his alpine head unit see it working fine in his fiesta etc now hes taken it out gave it to me to put in the bmw after looking at the connects on the back of his head unit it looks like hes cut of the main connector and re wired/changed it for one to fit his fiesta rather than spending a tenner on a fucking proper connector to join the 2 up.

so what the hell am i spose to do now cause theres no way im cutting my wires up in the bm!

this pic shows the original connector on the HU and the one he has added taped up.

this one shows the way i presume he had it connected up.

1) Go into Halfords

2) Ask em for an Alpine head to ISO cable (fairly easy to get hold of)

3) Ask em for an Autoleads adapter cable to go from ISO to BM plugs

4) Connect up in BM and bin the old leads that you got with HU

Simple.

Fuck know why people do it. I seen it in RS Turbo's over the years where people have chopped the wires to fit a head unit and i think whats the point, buy an adaptor and job done

No it would not be a straight fit.

BMW use 2 types of connector.

1 is a 17 or 19 round pin quadlock connector.

The other is a Square pin with can bus and infra red connector plugs on it.

They do NOT do any other type.

If you have ISO connectors on your BMW you either already have a cut and bodge job OR you have an adapter anyway- in which case you wont be butchering the BMW wiring.

That by the way isn't bad at all- fairly well done- you wanna try working on people DIY installs for a living.
