Log book is £19 however if you have the green new keepers slip then as long as you send it off with the V62 form they dont charge you (have just done this with my Vec as I STILL havnt got the log book and I bought the car in January!)

£19 and they'll write to the last name on logbook to ascertain that you're not trying it on (ie just applying for a logbook for a car that you fancy nicking/yes this used to happen in the good old days) and even if they don't receive a reply from the same they wait 8 weeks before issuing new V5 hence the long wait.
