How do you guys support the downpipe?

Ive done a google, and they do exist, just wondered on best way to support it!

I bolted a bracket to the bottom of the bulkhead and mounted it on an exhaust rubber. Bit fiddly but did the job. I think my exhaust was a magnex which had the flexi pipe on it.

stu the 90 spec escort xr3i has a bracket bolted just at the very front of the shell where the bulk head goes and suports from there if that helps

I don't think it's needed Stu, TBH.

A properly made downpipe coupled with a decent set of engine mounts should do the trick. I never have ANY problems with mine. My turbo nuts NEVER come loose (although I use fancy nuts between the Turbo and Manifold) and it all stays where it should.

fancy nuts ?

you mean that there pinched at the end so they dont rattle off,,, same as the fancy volvo police issue manifold nuts i bought for my cossie

No, better than that. I have tried many many nuts (fnar fnar!!) and none have worked as well as what I currently use. They DO NOT come loose!!

the pinched nuts dont come loose either, hence there a recall on volvo traffic police cars,,,, they actually charge more money for them too

are they 12 on 1 side and 13/14 on the other side

seriously try em aswell ( if you aint all ready) volvos recalls are not like fords are even though for owns em,,, volvo repair there issues properly ( then charge for it )

Right, car is goin on Tonys bro's ramp week before RR day, we are gonna weld a bracket to exhaust and mount it somewhere suitable just for extra support.

u don't want it tooooo tight mate....if the engine rocks and the exhaust doesn't, it'll just put extra stress on it
