Default Car viewing rant!!

Went to view a Civic Type R - 100 miles away.

"Immaculate paintwork" That is if you ignore that one side had been resprayed and the door in particular was pure orange peel with wavey dents!!

The day cost me 80quid and a days holiday for me and two mates

In fairness the guy did seem to have not noticed the door and appologised by email when i got back, but fekin hell

Wouldn't have minded, but believing it was going to be spot on, got a bankers draft and cash out and worked like a navie yesterday to make sure i could go today

Plus I wanted to be driving home with big smile not a fat wallet

I get the feeling he just felt no one would notice

I can appreciate that people don't disclose every detail, but that door was very noticable, should, have mentioned it really.

Worse bit is that because I travel, I don't think he thought I was going to walk away from it so stuck to his guns on the price, looked a little suprised when I got back in my car!!

I really dont understand why people do this!!! When i sell a car i like to describe it as it is and very often actually under sell it on the phone. That way, you know if you get someone to come and look at it, their impressed as its better than they expected and then buy it.

That way has never failed for me and 90% of the time, ive sold to the first person to view.

Same here, i always say everything thats wrong and im more than fussy! hence why the first person to come and see my cars always end up buying them!

I must fess up, I recently sold a car to a chap n here, described it as best as possible, but it was a non runner due the clutch being fooked, dropped the price from 325 to 180.

But now he has sorted the clutch, he said that second gear crunches and two wishbones of fooked

In my defence, I was selling it on behalf of my girlfriends dad, and he made no mention of any other problems with the gears It may have been that it got battered while we were trying to start it in gear to move it (a few times) and to be fair he was going to fix the clutch before another little cheap motor popped up and tempted him away so the box may have been ok before the clutch went.

Still I guess that's life comin g to bit me in the ass as payback

Its funny how many people say there car is "immaculate" and then when you get there they start reeling off a list of bits that need fixing I had a guy that told me his rs was "immaculate" and i told him if it was how he had described in the add then i would give him the asking price plus i would pay him to deliver it to me. I told him i will only buy it if it is the way he has described it if it aint then i told him not to bother bring it to me (it was a 400+ mile round trip ) he insisted it was "immaculate" so i said ok can he bring it to me tomorow (as by this time it was 7 at night) he said he can bring it down now i told him by the time he gets here it will be about 11 at night he said thats no problem anyway i thought seeing as he is willing to drive the 400+ miles the car must be immaculate because no one in there right mind would lie about it and drive the car 200+ miles only to be told to do one and have to drive 200+ miles home right??

Well not this guy he finally gets here at about 12 at night and says to me here it is thinking i was just going to hand him the cash so i get my 3 million candle watt torch out and start going over the car his face droped not only was all the things he said in his emails a complet lie but how he had not been pulled in it was amazing not only were the two rear tyres showing the wire the rear arches were rotten(he insisted in his emails that these had been professionally replaced) the roof had what looked like cat claw marks all over it, the engine had a major oil leak the fuse box was rotten(he told me that could be fixed with filler even tho in his email he said the fuse box was mint) it had more car park dents than anything i have seen before he told me in his emails that he had the log book it had 12 months mot on he said it had 6 months tax on it. when i ask to see the log book he told me he forgot it, when i asked where the tax was (as it was not in the window) he said it's in the post and he would send it to me when he gets it and when i looked at the mot it only had 3 months left and this is a car thats he said was immaculate and wanted £3500 for needless to say i sent him packing i was going to pay the cost of his fuel untill his misses started getting gobby so i thought fuck it you aint getting anything now you have got to be a complet tool to drive a car all that way knowing that it's a shiter and hoping that the person buying it dont notice

Always makes me laugh when you see them on ebay, advertised as 'mint apart from rust on rear arches, a slight dent in the door, keyed down one side and a bumper scuff, but apart from those few minor issues, the car is MINT and ive been quoted £100 to sort the lot.
