Default Why would my s1 sit higher at the back???

Its got brand new shocks, -40mm springs all around, but sits too high at the rear? about 20mm too high. Would i be better off getting longer springs for the front to bring it up, and should i get shorter for the rear? Is lopping a coil off the rear springs a bit naughty?

Cheers
Mike

sounds perfect to me.
you're better off with it slightly higher at the back.

DO NOT start cutting coils off the springs!

BORING!

i was thinking that about the weight distribution thing. BUT, the shocks do sometimes bottom out and make a bang when going through dips in the road.

briefly.

I made that mistake on my XR3 years ago. Cut one coil of each spring with oxy acetalene
(I was only 17 and it sounded like a good idea at the time)

It looked the dogs b*llox until I tried to drive it. Bottomed out all the time and ripped of the backbox on the first speed ramp I went over. Knocking and shaking around, I felt like I was inside a marraca.

Ended up buying a new suspension set up for it. That was the first and last peice of advise I took form another apprentice

May seen silly I know but have you fitted the front springs on the front and the rear springs on the rear.

I have come across many people fit them the wrong way round giving the result you have

Im sure fwd is meant to handle better with the front lower than the rear. Probably why the kit makes it like that.

I personally think it looks better lower at the front aswell. I hate it when you see pugs which have had the torsion bar dropped to the bottom so its low at the rear and high at the front. Looks proper wank like they have a boot full of bricks

yeah i was thinking that too. Under acceleration, the front lifts, unweighting the wheels, so it must be a good thing being nose down like that.

Providing you're permanently accelerating!

Braking the weight pitches forward

That looks too low unless you have eccentric top mounts or adjustable TCA's to sort out the camber?

You'll have to ask Rick tho about the rest of it...he'll explain rear castor
