Default NATWEST are crap! im furious at this..

cant belive this!!!

went to cash point today to get cash for fuel to go to a job in London, put me card in ad entered the pin...

YOUR CARD HAS BEEN RETAINED!! contact your branch ect

so off i go pretty pissed as its my buisness account and there was £340 is in there and a 2K overdraft facilty..... im thinking whats wrong ect..

i get to the bank and wait 20mins in a que to be told, i dont know why we have kept your card..... it just says cancelled..... ring this number and chat to them....

so off i go again even more pissed that my branch dont know whats going on....

get home and call this number which is head office and credit managment services, i spend 10 mins waiting to find out why i cant get to my money eventually i get a grumpy woman on the phone that tells me...

" ok mr P..... the reason your gold account has been CLOSED is because your joint account with your partner is £400 overdrawn and you havent made a payment with in 60 days to clear it"

i said " sorry CLOSED?? what you mean CLOSED??

" yes mr P..... we now have the power as of last week to close any accounts linked in the same name or adress if you default on one of them... this also means your partners personal account wil be closed as of tomorw..."

so let me get this straight... you are closing my personal buisness acount and my partners personal account and my joint account??? ALL 3?? because of a defualt on 1 of them??

" yes she replied"

I said ok, but i have all my moneys payed into my personal gold account and if you re-open my it i will pay off the 400 quid right now, ect ect, or maybe if you had warned me you were going to do this in the first place i would have payed it all off,

she said sorry sir, i cannot re-open any accounts now whatsoever and you owe us £400 quid...

i said what about my £340 thats in my account and the 300 or so thats in my partners account?

she said well we will use that to pay off your debt to us.

then i said .. so effectivly you are witholding my own money to pay a debt and giving me no option to pay it back in installments ect..

she said ," yes sir you can pay it in installments to us,and withdraw your own money out at the branch only...

i said ok i will do that then...so off i went to the branch with my missus and drew out all of our own money and left the cards with the branch

when i got home i rang back again and spoke to a diffrernt woman, got told they would under no circumstances re open amy of our accounts, i argued and argued and spoke to the manager only to be told..

" well thats not my problem..."

my parting line was I CANNOT BELEIVE THAT YOU HAVE CLOSED 2 VERY GOOD AND WELL KEPT ACCOUNTS BECUASE OF 400 QUID DEFUALT THAT I HAVE OFFERD TO PAY RIGHT NOW, TALK ABOUT CUTTING OFF YOUR NOSE ECT...I WILL TAKE MY BANKING ELSEWHERE AND YOU WILL NOT RECIVE ANY OF YOUR 400 POUNDS BACK UNTILL YOU RE-INSTATE MY 2 GOOD ACCOUNTS.... THANKYOU, OH AND I WILL BE WRITING TO THE HEAD OF NATWEST AND EXPLAINIG THE SITUATION IN FULL....

BOLLOX TO YOU!

i feel really let down by then as ive been a good and loyal customer for over 10 years and never had a problem..

only thoing now is i cant pay money out and i have no overdraft.. oh dear looks like im sellin the car...

sorry guys/girls but i needed to vent and thanks for reading!

QUick question Lee

Have you claimed back bank charges recently...
It is a trend for banks to do this to people who have claimed back charges.

Personally- I think NATWEST are ace.. I have never ever had any problems at all..

sounds very similer to what the hsbc did to me last year the cunts

because i had loads of money going in and out of my account ebcause i was going on holiday, they decided that there was fraudulent activity going on and stopped it
but they didn't tell me
evenwhen i was in tesco and couldn't pay for the shopping and the embaresment of having your card declined and having to call the bank to make sure it was me before they let the transaction go ahead
but this was a day AFTER they had frozen my account

and when i called them to find out exactly wtf was going on they said they had sent me a letter telling me what was going on

to make matters worse, they said they'd send me another card out BUT that wouldn't get here until AFTEr i'd got on a plane to go to india, and that i needed to produce the card i'd booked the tickets with in order to actually get on the plane

and then, when i got back, i had a nice conversation with the local plod because the bank had to tell them and they had to investigate the possibilities of me laundering money through my account

which froze my account again

banks = cunts

Thats bad! Now you've taken your money out of both yours and your partners account can you pay off the £400 get your accounts re-opened and then move them elsewhere. I can't believe they can do this without warning - what if you had put petrol in and was going to use your debit card rather than take the cash out? Would've been declined and been stuffed

the thing that bugs me is that your doing the banks a favour by banking with them anyway

best off doing what old people do and keeping a stash in your house so no fucker can take it off you

mate search the forums for something to do with bank charges. There was post 3-5 months back i think about this guy getting told its actually ilegal for your bank to give you charges. You are under no obligation to pay them. There was also a draft letter you can send to them to claim it back. Good luck fella. Personally i'm with RBS and i think there ACE. really nice people

I had exactly the same problem with them as well, while at University closed the account and wanted the full overdraft cleared even though i was withi the limit and it was my student account.

They completely fucked me over as i had all my D/d coming out of there.

All because as they worded it an Employee Error as they said they hadnt recieved a payment into the acc. as some in the branch had paid the money into the wrong acc.

I would never go use them CUNTS

The reason is mate to stop people like you with 3 accounts in 1 address emptying 2 of then including the over draft and fooking of with all the money. If you read the small print it does state in there they can do this

Always read what you sign,i never use to but i always do these days.

I left Nat West about 15years ago as their charges were ridiculous, for example they bounced a check for £8 due to insufficient funds, but charged me £25 to bounce it.
To thier credit, they did let me go almost £1000 overdrawn before they said anything.

The moral of this story is don't go overdrawn (as obvious as it sounds)

Natwest are SHIT!

In the last 18 months or so i've had so many problems. Worst for me was when i bought a dvd on play.com who apparently do a card check before accepting payment, this was seen as fraudulent internet activity so my account was closed...

I wasn't too bothered as it seems a good protocol incase i did get fraud. Only problem though whilst my account was closed my direct debits were due to come out and of course went unpaid due to account being closed/locked i thouht theres no way i can be held accountable since it wasn't my decisin to close the account and hold the funds.

When i was reinstated not only was i being chased for arrears but i had over £120 in charges. The arrears were sorted, i've moved away from natwest and i'm still claiming back those charges.

Its a fucking joke

CHEERS for all your replies people, have started trhe wheels in motion to claim all my charges back which is about £500 in 6 months, if i manage to do this, then natwest have effectivly closed my accounts for no reason whatsoever, hmmm i think i will batlle it out,

on friday morinng i went to hsbc and opened 2 accounts there with no problem at all, things are looking better, i cant have my overdraft yet but when they see 3 months banking and how good it is they will sort it, even then i dont think i will bother... i will feel better if its just cash in cash out ect...
