Yes this is true mate, which is what I'm planning on doing.....I was just checking that the temperature range of the gauge I was looking at (water one) was adequate for this use!!!

As above, a water one probably wont be any good if you are measuring pre-intercooler as you could see well over 100 degrees which obviously you cant with water unless its a guage intended for a very pressurised system, most car gauges stop by about 120-140 or so that ive seen and you could easily see more than that on the ragged edges of the compressor map (where most t34 cossies are ran hence the rs500 coolers being so popular, lol)

Also, water temp senders tend to be more heavily encased in brass than air temp senders from what ive seen (although will be make dependant) so you may find they dont react quick enough to be useful as water temperatures typically change quite slowly but ACT can change in more or less an instant.

Yeah, totally understand what you are saying guys.
Gauge goes upto 150deg C - worth a go really - only really interested in what the temp is at full pelt round a track (so its got plenty of time for the needle to rise after a few hot laps!) & how well my intercooler's coping!!!
I've already got a water temp one & its included in the package I'm getting so might as well try and get it to do this!!!

It should be pretty useful if its the peak figures you are after like that mate rather than an accurate graph of what happens and exactly when ![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
You may just creep off the end, but im guessing that isnt going to be a problem for the level of accuracy you are after.
Dont forget to post your results back here

Sure thing mate - people that have been out in it before (Ring & Donington) were I think pleasantly surprised at how it well it goes, it struggled a bit I feel in some of the uphill sections of the ring but I might be running slightly more power if I can pull off some of my plans which should help!!!
"legendary cossie killer" it aint - but it certainly seemed to keep up with a few at Dono!!!
