Can you put a private registration on a 'Q' plate car????

As above - not a chance. Once the cars on a 'Q' it stays on it permanently.

im having probs registereing my car at the moment they said untill i get convfermation of year of my car they will put it on a Q then put it back on the right reg later on told them "stick that Q no chance"

funny enough dvla said that to a mate of mine when he rebuilt his ERST, said that it will gp pn a q plate until he can show proof that a certain percent is of the original car,,,,,, was a q plate for ever the poor sod

Good news, there were plans a few years ago to sell low numbered and interesting looking Q regs if the car had to have one.

.BAD NEWS, The idea got scrapped.

Good news though, when Q runs out, which it will fairly quickly if they bring in the super MOT/SVA idea, they will be using 00 prefix.

They have never stopped issuing Q plate and even when Q runs out they will still have a unique reg to identify vehicles with lost I.D and rebuilds from various sources.

00 and 01 prefix are quoted as being "reserved for future use"
